Joe Tucker?

I am a average player SL3 or 4 in the APA (still new I am not really sure where I am), and I really want to get better. I think I might have a slight addiction to pool lol. Anyway, I watched a few of his videos, and I like his style of teaching.

I really don't have an aiming method, and I am sure my fundamentals need some work. I was thinking about purchasing his package deal with everything in it. Will his materials help? Anyone in a similar position have any experience with his methods? Should I look somewhere else? I just want to make sure I make a good purchase for someone at my level.

Thanks

You won't regret buying his packages! Great stuff!
Even better would be to take a lesson from him and then working with his material.

Best wishes from beyond the pond

I'm one of his local students.

He started me off with perfectly straight stop shots from different distances with lots of left and right spin. This makes you aware of what it takes to deliver the cue ball to a target loaded with spin, and how squirt and swerve change the cue ball path. Practice this for a while, then start drawing and following, all with spin.

After you feel comfortable with that, practice the drills from Guaranteed Improvement book, ESPECIALLY the 10-ball rail rotation drill. Brainwash is an important one for pattern games (8-ball, str8).

Also important is to try to get through Aiming by Numbers workout at-least ONCE all the way through. Not easy. I like using the balls with the numbers on them but you don't need to.

Watch all of the DVDs first before you try. He shows you how to do it correctly, and more importantly, that it can be done.

There is a lot of knowledge here. His creed is that you should absorb as much of that knowledge as possible, and then let it guide your physiology and fundementals to fall into place, specific to you. A lot of self discovery on this path... its a lot of fun!

His material won't help a bit unless you use the DVD's to level a table leg...unless, and ONLY until you actually apply what knowledge he passes on to you ON the table and master what he teaches. THEN, when you actually apply it, his material will help you tremendously. It's great material.

Joe puts out some great stuff. I agree with Randyg. You would benefit more by visiting Joe in person. Have him work with you. If you don't live near Joe then check out Scott Lee. He travels the country all the time. A couple of days with either of these guys and using Joe's practicing material should help you improve.
Good luck.

Can't hurt to call Joe... Not sure where YOU are located but Joe does travel to some of the bigger events at times so you might be able to attend a tournament and get a lesson to boot if he is too far to travel to go see...

Regardless, you can't beat a package for now if a personal lesson will be something done down the road.....

Wow, I guess I will be ordering his material then! So many glowing reviews.

Thank you all

Having already purchased Racking secrets 2, I just got the Guaranteed
Improvement book DVD combo. Joe's attention to detail trumps the newer
stuff I've seen.
