Joey A. and Galvaston

I also would like to congratulate Joey for the outstanding commentary. All of his guest were excellent.

I especially enjoyed the tips that joey was able to get from his guest in the booth. JJ was my favorite, the way he instantly summed up the next shot and was right on close to 100% of the time. Roberto G was interesting to listen to. Great job JoeyA

JoyeA did a wonderful job in Galveston, big kudos to the people who made things happen for pool

Those preconceived perceptions

I bet that there was a degree or two difference in one of the facings, or the application of one or both that was off on that pocket..... but you Could tell the players that had a preconcieved perception of it from the ones that didn't, and that was the main difference from my 'railside' view.
I'd go insane if I played on that table all the time!!!

AND..................... MAN was the commentating GREAT!! Gomez's fun loving spirit was infectious, and made me keep smilin'. Nick and Billy both have a subtle humor also that really makes for more enjoyable listening. I hope this catches on, and is financially rewarding for both the sponsors, as well as the commentators..... cuz it sure was nice for the fans!!!!! :grin-square:

Tim,

Most of the players with preconceived perceptions had been bitten earlier by the devil pocket! Some of the best in the world bounced some shots out of that pocket that bar room bangers would make all day long on a Valley. I think it put some serious mojo on them when they had to shoot at it for the marbles.

I believe Joey was the one selecting pairings for the booth. Whoever did it did an absolutely fantastic job. There was usually enough humor to keep things light while Joey did get some real interesting tips out of the players. If I wasn't so lazy I would have taken notes.

One story I remember without remembering the names was someone always wanting to play one of the greats. He finally got to play them and they drubbed him, he won one game. Afterwards the guy with one win in the set said "You know, this wasn't near as much fun as I thought it would be!" Reminds me of a friend so I almost fell off my chair laughing.

Your positive responses are incredible. I never in a million years expected such kindness and appreciation and it will always be remembered.

The experience at the Galveston World Classic was fantastic. I worked hard at choosing the right combination of professional players to do commentary with. Taylor Road Production gave me this responsibility and as the anchor commentator, it was one of my many jobs but one of my greatest pleasures.

I gambled with bringing on some of the new talent into the booth like Roberto Gomez but I had a feeling that his exhuberance for life and pool would come through loud and clear. It wasn't hard to put Neil Fujiwara in the booth as I knew he would do well. Unfortunately, I was exhausted at that moment and I had to pair Neil with Nick Varner and I knew that the two would be great together. The next opportunity, Neil and I will be in the booth together and you have my word on that. I know how to recognize budding talent.

The old hands like Jay Helfert, Billy Incardona, Jeremy Jones, Charles Bryant, Corey Deuel, Gene Albrecht were an easy fit. I am still recovering from my exhaustion and there were surely more talent than this but my mind is still in a fog.

I know I would have been better if Buddy Hall had made the trip to share some of the responsbilities of commentary. I spoke to Buddy today and his brother is home now recovering from the heart attack and stroke but remains in serious and guarded condition. In addition to his brother's near death experience, Buddy has had additional things going on this week that would surely defeat ordinary men. Those things will remain private and confidential so please don't ask. I ask you to send your prayers or positive thoughts into the cosmos to help Buddy through this trying time because they are direly needed. Buddy promised to help me in the future and I know he will.

Another thing that I really liked was that some of my co-commentators asked me if they could come back another time in my booth after their first experience with me. This confirmed at least for me that part of my job was done correctly.

I thank each and every single one of you for making the Galveston World Classic one of my favorite times in the booth.

Sincerely,
Joey Aguzin

LOL.....

I caught that one too. I think it was Nick talking about a banks game with some guy.....

Facts are great, learning the game is always good, ..... for me in my life ....humor is always BEST!! I'd rather laugh, I know I will forget the other stuff soon enough!

Hi JoeyA,

Great job! Was just wondering why you introduce yourself as coming from the "Internet Pool Forums" and not from AZBilliards.....are there any other pool forums out there? ;)

You did an awesome job as usual Joey!! It was good to see you again. I hope you enjoyed that 1/2 a beer at the end of the show! ;) LOL!

Hope you get to make it by the Big Easy in Oct!

Joey I thought you just rocked. Two things that I thought were
just huge was "Boom goes the dynamite" and
"hi this is Joey A. I just loved it, it was so Walter Cronkitey.

I thought you did huge, you already knew that.

My fav in the booth with you was JJ, I thought he
was great and you two sounded like you have been doing
it for years.

I also love hearing Jay and Billy, they both bring some old
gambling stories that I love to hear, you also kept Billy grounded
a few times. lol

I'm not a big Hillbilly fan, I want to hear about the game not
a lesson, but that's okay, others liked him.

But you my friend, rocked it, totally rocked it.

lots of hugs
