John Barton VS Lou Figueroa

Have you been to the Action section lately? If you can't get people to take your bets, they either don't take you seriously or consider you bad action and I don't think they consider you bad action.

What are you talking about? #1 I am not trying to make bets on here. #2 I said clearly that any side action I take will be in person.

As for any "bets" other than this match - it's simply a way to say to someone your point is not valid IF you don't think enough of it to bet on it. If you're sure you are right then betting on your conviction shouldn't be a problem.

When I read you calling Lou a bully, I let slide, but the only way for anything you wrote above to be true would be by changing "Lou" to "John".

Not even close. You have been as bad as Lou but without a shred of pool knowledge or skill.

Joey, I hope you will take this post, as intended, and please realize, for a change I am dead serious !.. All of my chiding, and pot shots at you and John, regarding your obsession(s) with aiming systems..have been just that..POT SHOTS !..I even thought you and I had a little fun with it, until you started parroting John Barton's OFTEN repeated sentiments !

I admit, I am a nay-sayer, and always will be !..I think 'aiming systems' are fine..for teaching beginner's, how to try and shoot balls in the hole..But, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with teaching the fundamental, and correct 'mechanics' of learning the game...I'm sure Mr. Shuffett can teach THOSE principles as well as anyone...But, he prefers to give his aiming method(s) TOP BILLING, as the ONLY way to advance a layman's skills !..I just heartily disagree, which I guess sounds blasphemous, because with you and John, it is a RELIGION !

Lou is also a 'naysayer' the only difference in our mindsets, is Lou does not kid around. It is NOT in his personality to joke around, so he comes right out and calls you and John idiots !..You guys and him go much further back than I do, but Joey, YOU are way out of line, in attacking his character, the way you did in this post !..

In reading your indictment of him, you act as though his insulting you or John, are worthy of at least 20 years in prison..So what if he's taken a adversarial stance, toward all the other A.S.S guys, or maybe even 'gossiped' a little ? What do you call YOUR post ?...For Chrissake Joey, its only Poolroom banter...Just like Barton, you are trying to make him sound like
Charles Manson !!!

You are just repeating the things John has said about him, at least 500 times, in the past few weeks alone ! ..We get it..You don't like us !..In case you haven't noticed, there are a ton of people on this forum, who think just like 'Duckie' (post #119) John runs into them every thread he enters, he just refuses to admit they exist..Don't let him suck you into his paranoia, are you blind to the fact that he is UNBEARABLY obnoxious ?

Let them have their battle next month, and get it over with !...Its just a Goddamn pool game, it ain't world war III, like
John is trying to make it ! (he does love/crave the attention, don't he ?)

Chill out Joey,...One berserk, ranting, raving "A.S.S." guy is quite enough ! :sorry:

Dick

Calling people criminals on this forum SHOULD have earned Lou a couple bannings. This is this only place his behavior has not gotten him barred from.

John, consider the source and move on. Sometimes it doesn't matter what words you write on this forum, they will be met with negativity by someone for the pure sport of it.

I haven't read the thread, but it does seem to be generating a lot of activity.

Hope you and yours are doing well! :)

What speed are John and Lou playing 9 ball ghost race to 10? I know they are playing 1P but just wondering who the better shooter is.

Mr. 8pack should be aware, that most 4 yr. olds cannot function with 'grey area' emotions...They either love something, or they hate it !..That is why I consider anyone with an obsessive, compulsive, immature attitude, to be just as hard to reason with, as a 4 yr. old !

PS..Not referring to John B. of course !..(He is much more like trying to talk to a 2 yr. old)
:banghead:

This guy is worse then any four year old that I've seen.

I woke this morning and realized that my post was just as mean-spirited as the ones that he had written about others in the past and that is why I have removed mine. Apologies to the forum.

JoeyA

I REALLY like this, Joey!

Apparently YOU are the ONLY one who shares that opinion, John ! ...YOU (not Lou) have recieved several well deserved "vacations", plus a few threats for a "Lifetime" Ban ! I guess the 'powers that be' on this forum, know a real full time, miserable, insulting, 'gentleman', when they see one !...

Your advertising expenditures have not saved you from the 'ban hammer', have they ? :o..Now theres an area, where you could give Lou some BIG WEIGHT !...You usually have about 3 or 4 "name calling" wars going at once...You may not have noticed, because you have so many [sic] friends)

Too late Joey, it is captured for posterity, in post # 119, in case anyone missed it :o Nice gesture though...I was shocked.. That was not the JoeyA I know !..(but it sure sounded like the other A.S.S guy from China !)

Joey, I know that you later edited your original post, but by that time two people had already responded and quoted the original text, so I hope you don't mind that I respond in kind? It's in the spirit of good intentions, trust me.

No offense taken Sean. I guess your post deserves a response from my perspective.

I appreciate that you took time out to respond, Joey. And I feel I owe you an explanation of what I was getting at, based on some things I see in your original text.

Lou has denigrated and ridiculed good and decent people on this forum, FOR YEARS, simply because they have different beliefs than he does and I am fairly sure that you have NEVER admonished him for his despicable behavior. Why? I don't know.

That bolded part is one of those things that I wanted to address right out in the open, because primarily, that statement is 100% untrue. I'm not sure if it's because of a point-purpose selective/biased memory, or just forgetting certain instances have happened because the quantity of them may not've met a "critical mass" or threshold for long-term memory.

Fact: Lou and I have had it out here, in the Main forum, and in the 14.1 forum, on numerous occasions. A couple instances that stand out: Lou's deification of Willie Mosconi, Lou's stubborn refusal to admit that Mosconi had a slip stroke (evident to anyone that watches video archives), arguments to what cue ball was used at 14.1 events, Lou's downtrodding write-up of the SBE he attended and the management of the 14.1 Challenge event, and a little instance where Mr. Wilson himself had to warn Lou about some really nasty comments he made to me in response to what I thought were obvious playful ex-Navy guy -to- ex-Air Force guy portrayals of each other's service. (In other words, playful banter that could be heard around any military water cooler, that he took personally.)

Some of the comments put by Lou in my direction were really nasty and over the top. In some of the instances, his point and stance was 100% correct, and if other than for the language used, I would normally concede gracefully.

I once made the analogy that Lou's favorite move / parting shot, is when he feels he wants to put a capper or coup de gras on his point, he turns his back to you, and as he's walking away, he flings a spinning machete over his shoulder, which you find embedded in the crown of your head.

Here's the point I make: so what? Let's capitalize that. SO WHAT?

That's his way. You have your way. I have my way. Everyone has his/her way. Everyone has his/her own idiosyncracies, which they may -- or may not(!) -- know is not everyone else's normal way of dealing with things. Lou may know he's caustic in many instances. But in some ways, so are YOU. And, I admit, I can be caustic at times as well.

I try to be the best human being I can be, while still defending my values. But I find as I get older, countering causticity with more causticity does no one good. In fact, there's a lot of collateral damage when that stuff splashes around.

You can still defend your values and be a good human being at the same time. The trick is to pick your battles. And, when to just close your eyes, and say to yourself, "this ain't worth it," and move on -- even without a reply.

There's too much of this "stake in the ground" nonsense here. And over what -- a freakin' way to aim a pool shot?

Sean, you're a decent guy. Even if you disagree with someone you don't take the disagreement to the point of intentionally trying to ridicule someone over what they believe or practice. You may disagree with someone but you get your point across and leave it alone. That's what a gentleman does.

Thank you, Joey. That means a lot. This is my point, btw. One can be a great debater in a forum setting without having to resort to that bucket of caustic liquids. I strive to be that way, although I may not always be successful.

Lou isn't a gentleman unfortunately, despite the front that he puts on for most of us and he has been given the opportunity to be one.

Actually I think it is more than that. He has been given the opportunity to be a friend by more than one person on this forum but he prefers to be a forum bully and a self-righteous, pompous ass, more than to get along with people.

Sorry, but Lou has made his bed and he likes it this way. He doesn't apologize for his ways, doesn't plan to change his despicable behavior and that's just Lou.

I guess after all these years I am glad to see Lou getting just a little bit of what he has been giving others for years.

I think what is particularly funny is Lou came into my town much like John did in St. Louis, when I wasn't at my pool room and couldn't wait to get back to his laptop to spread rumors about anything negative about me that he could find.

Lou is a gossiper and a person who spins the truth to meet his own agenda and his agenda is often an intention to hurt or injure.

He's just getting a little bit of what he has been giving others for all these years. I guess it's overdue.

One question to you, Joey -- is this all worth it? I mean, you disagree with Lou, Dave (SpiderWebComm) disagrees with Lou, John Barton disagrees with Lou, Stan disagrees with Lou, ...ad nauseam. There are two common denominators in the above:

1. Lou
2. You

(I'm not talking about the others, btw -- only you and your part in all this.) Only *one* of those two common denominators above is one you have control over. Can you guess which one it is?

My point is it should be glaringly obvious by now that you are not going to "change" Lou or his stance on those topics you disagree over (e.g. aiming systems). Yet, you keep on, and on, and on. You (and the others, btw) are like little wind-up or RC toys that, when they meet a wall, instead of changing direction and going around the wall, you instead back up, go forward crashing into the wall, back up, go forward crashing again into the wall, etc., over and over.

It's very easy to point the finger at Lou and blame him for his audacity, causticity, etc. But you know that old saying about when you make a fist and form your hand to point a finger in blame at someone, where are the other three fingers pointing?

In a way I'm sorry to say that I'm most likely fanning the flames. I'll bow out unless there is additional reasons to respond. I thought you deserved a response.
JoeyA

I *do* appreciate the follow-up and the time you put into this, Joey, and please understand it's for the purposes of taking the opportunity to address a couple key points that would've otherwise been lost if I'd responded only to the edited version.

While the forums may look to this as a blessing -- culminating in an "Internet Death Match" of the caliber not seen since OMGWTF-vs-Cubc -- you really do have to question the silliness of all this. Only *one* of the two common denominators mentioned a couple paragraphs above needed to exercise a bit of "full stop" control, and things would've been halted in their tracks. Yeah, an Internet Death Match over disagreements about aiming systems. This takes the playground-ish "my Dad is better than your Dad -- wanna fight me and see?" to a new level of silliness.

Still, I count myself as one who wants to see this match, because I LOVE one pocket! Too bad it couldn't be an all-around, with some 14.1 thrown in. That would make it really interesting.

Name calling wars?

Not hardly. Let's see in the past couple days you have called me plenty of things including a whore.

If there is any single person who has a completely FREE PASS on this forum then it's you.

I have been banned several times, once or twice for rules issues and once or twice for things that are not even against the rules. I wear my bans as badges of honor for speaking my mind.

I am at the point where I really don't care anymore about you, your opinion, Lou's opinion, Wilson's opinion, etc....

I do what I want Dick and am self-employed. I have a lovely family and a great career.

In a few weeks I will play your boy and if I win then your mouth will be permanently shut and Lou's will be permanently shut. If I lose then I will fade your senile ramblings as the tax of participation on the forum.

Enjoy the free pass you have. I have work to do. As for Lou. Doesn't matter, people like him exist everywhere and they are part of the fabric of life. I promise you though that when I go down the road people welcome me back and that's worth far more to me than being such an obnoxious nit that people would rather tell stories about their bad run-ins.

Win or lose he has to wake up every day in the knowledge that he is not liked. I don't have that problem. Anyone who doesn't like me doesn't really know me. And those people are pretty much of zero consequence to me.

Very well spoken Mr. Barton
Like I said before it must be Jealousy or Embarresment or both for someone to keep HUNTING you down.

Very well said Sean - focus on the positive and ignore the rest.

Life is too short for these silly games.

Did any of you guys happen to catch those hockey games yesterday and today :)

Yeah...that's why your boy gets lifetime ban hammers from his local poolroom, forget AZB.

You have to be a classy guy to get banned from a POOL HALL.

Charles Manson was never banned from a pool hall.

It's amusing how you follow John around from thread to thread. You act like you wanna *&$!# him or something. Is that why they call you "San Jose" Dick? That's prob where your last crush lived

I bet you wish you were called "Wherever John's at today" Dick.

1. You're always challenging people to bet on things. Including this match. The primary reason you crawfished on your bets is because you got mad at Wilson.

2. You know most people won't be there.

You've made so many "challenges" and offers to bet that I don't think anybody takes you seriously. How many bets did you have regarding your banning/returning? In your short time on 1P, you probably issued almost as many "challenges" as other posts.

Not everybody feels a need to bet on everything to be right. You know who likes to pull that kind of move? People that like to bully with $$ and expect others to back down. As I said, I doubt a dollar has ever changed hands over your challenges here and that proves my point.

Carry on. :banghead:

As for the other.. For the record, Lou has given me snippy replies to posts in the past. The difference is that he's willing to walk away afterwards. And Roadking.. it's hard not to find a peacock, they all but hunt themselves.

Just wanted to make sure you didn't miss anything else ridiculous..

Again, I didn't crawfish anything. Can't bet in a place that doesn't allow the threads to stay open. All the gamblers who want to bet with me know what they need to do and they have made arrangements to get their money in.

I am glad for you that you and Lou can have a tiff and be ok with it. Some anon called "banks" has nothing to lose by being called a criminal and defamed. Myself and Stan and well known instructors have a lot to lose IF readers believe that what they teach is worthless snake-oil. So it's a bit different when Lou is "snippy" with you but defamatory to me.

As for bullying people with money, let's step back here.

1. Lou's "people" tried to bully me by offering a $20,000 bet when all I said was Lou's got 9-8 for $100 a game.

2. When I say I will bet $10,000 that x+x=xx then it's a rhetorical bet because when it gets to that point then the other side knows that I am right and me being willing to put my money up shows my conviction that I am right.

If you had grown up in the pool rooms I did then you would understand that this is a normal part of pool room life. When we argue in the pool room then inevitably someone would say if you are sure then bet on it.

At that point - if the other side didn't want to bet then the argument was over.

In fact this culture in the pool room of arguments leading to bets is exactly what Titanic Thompson counted on when he setting up his gaffe bets. He would do things like move the city limit sign ten miles closer to the pool room and argue about how far it was to the pool room until someone wanted to bet on it.

So my apologies if you think that me being willing to bet on my points is somehow bullying. I just see it as a way to bring arguments to a close. But the forum culture and the pool room culture are different and what works in the pool room doesn't go over well here with people who are not immersed in that culture.

...

Translated: if you can't bet as much money as me, I win the argument.

That sounds fair and doesn't appear like bullying at all... Especially if you keep upping the bet until you are "right."

just poking fun. :)

:-) Kind of. Because if one is right then you should be be willing to bet something on it.

I mean let's be real here - I have even offered to PAY people to prove their point. Not even a bet, I have just said - make a video and PROVE your point and I will PAY you xxx $ and they don't do it.

So really whenever I get to that point it's more along the lines of just show it don't say if you think you're right.

Because honestly any argument can run endlessly unless someone finally says put up or shut up.
