John Davis - article

I try not to do this so shamelessly, but I wanted to tell people again about John Davis getting back into making cues. I can't thank Chris Tate enough for telling me (and all of you) that Davis decided to return to cues.

I did an article on him, and it's in the November '06 issue of InsidePOOL {edit: Dec '06 issue, not Nov. 06}. You can either pick up a back issue at the next pool event that they're at (Derby City Classic, Jan. '07), or download a copy at InsidePOOLmag.com, after registering.

Like many of you, the history of billiards and the history of cues in specific are a big deal to me. It was an honor and privilege to put his story in print.

Humbly,

Fred Agnir

Shameless P.S. while I'm at it, look for AZber Sheldon Lebow in this month's, Keith Josey in January '07 (with some notes on AZber 'skins'), and AZber Bob Dzuricky Feb. 07.

I'll throw some pics and specs info up on mine, when I get it. John started my cue on November 7th, I think......so I'm hoping I'll have it in hand sometime around mid-late January.

Fred,

That's really good news, thank you. I'm going to have to subscribe to that magazine.

I hope John retires soon so he can get the cue business really rolling. Hang in there guys, it may take a while but he came through for me.

Chris

Fred,

Am I missing something? (it's getting late) I down loaded the November 2006 volume VI, issue 9 InsidePOOL mag, and your article is on Sheldon Lebow.

Looking forward to reading your article on John Davis.

Agreed. No John Davis in that magazine.

I hate it when I do that. December?

Yeah, it's December's issue. And wouldn't you know it, it's not up yet. Curses.

Could one of you guys possibly PM me info on how
to order a cue from Mr.Davis? Thanks.
Just give him a call at 773-545-2170. If he's not there, he'e really good about giving you a call back. Besides that, just choose your woods and veneers.

Thanks, man. Does he require a down payment?
Plus, what kind of wait would I be looking at?

I paid up front, just because it tends to help grease the skids once in a while, but I think he only wanted half. I was quoted 6-8 weeks and got it in 10, not bad for cuemaker time. I don't know what his lead time is now though.

I went to the Inside Pool website, searched downloads and back issues, and cannot find the Dec '06 issue or the John Davis article. Can someone post a link or paste the article here? Thanks! :p

Rayjay, it's not out there! I ended up calling sales and ordering a "back issue" if you sweet talk them, they may throw in the back issue with a 1 year subscription.... It's not very expensive..

Thanks Twice, but I think I'll pass on a IP subscription, as I have BD. Was hoping it could be posted here, but maybe not. :o
