John Morra Ready To Win A Big One

Jayson Shaw is a Champion, and a multiple defending champion of the same event (that many of the other top pro players attend each year). What was that annual tournament that he won like 3 years (?) in a row? I forget, but I am pretty sure that I heard that he won it 3 times in a row.

Jayson has many titles under his belt and is apt to dominate any match he plays. At times he makes the game look ridiculously easy with his fast and loose run outs. However, at times his speed bites him in the ass and he gets down on himself. His win over Mika last year was one of the best exhibitions of pool I have ever seen yet he whines over a loss in an early round in the Chinese 8 Ball. He hasn't developed the heart of a grinder like Dennis, Shane and Alex and a few others who refuse to lose---yet. JMO

2-1 against John Morra?? I can see why Jay would jump on that. He is just too good and is quite a ways fro plateauing.

You are correct and I feel he can and will win a major tournament in the future. I have always enjoyed watching him play and admire his demeanor while at the table. He has the skill level to beat anyone. The top 100 players in the world all possess tremendous skill, but we don't see a bunch of different names crowned as champions. Seems only a select few with some others sprinkled in. This is because it is not only the ability to play well but also how strong mentally the player is and the consistency of the select few is just a little bit better.

I love the way John Morra walks around the table, and he just seems so confident. I do not know, but it seems to me that he has a very strong mental game. I think I remember hearing that he won that Clash of the Titans invitational (that was held some years back, can't remember when), but I do not know. That was on bar tables though.

Yeah, I really do not follow the pro tournament scene like a lot of you guys on here do. Jayson is one of my favorite players though. Love his game. The things that he can do with the cue ball really amaze me sometimes. I thought I knew every shot in the book, until I seem some of the things he did to get shape on the next ball. Just really impressed with his game.

I'd like to know who those 20 young guys are. I sure haven't seen them. I'm having trouble thinking of ONE young guy who I would pick in a match over John, let alone 20. Maybe Justin Bergman or Jayson Shaw are small favorites over him, but not by much. I guarantee you they would play even. John Morra does not get weight from anyone this side of Dennis Orcollo. I doubt that even the big guns would give him any more than the 9 in Ten Ball, if that!

Jeff Ignacio trounced him in some 10 ball action at derby. I watched the stream and Ignacio won handily. Billy Incardona was commentating and mentioned that he was informed that Ignacio was stealing, and it sure looked like it. So there's at least one young guy I'd pick over him. Ignacio is a monster though, sure to be a top world player, maybe already is.

Having played em in match play and watched him live, his skill set is near the top, as is his demeanor during play. With the amount of great/talented players out there nowadays, it's even that more difficult to stand out from the herd, but his game is different than his peers, which is a good thing. If he rattles, I've not seen that, and if keeps going at the pace he's at, he'll be around for a long time to come. I too like his game over Corey Duels, any day of the week. It takes a great player in perfect stroke with a consistent break to beat this man, and that still won't happen every time, he's able to play one/max 2 errors per race to 11, that win's allot of matches.

John is a fantastic player, perhaps too perfect.
Nobody has to like playing him.

Some of the greatest athletes on the planet never won anything and others broke through after many tries.
Not everyone is Tiger Woods, some are Bustamante and Dan Marino, the list goes on. It took Phil Mickelson 12 years to win his first Major.

In today's world of sports and competition everyone is a killer. The lower tier players are many and high caliber. It takes a lot to truly believe in yourself, one trickle of doubt will cost you. We have seen that doubt creep in on some of the greatest of our time.

We have seen players like Shane and Dennis with poor body language, slumping, negative facial expressions and lose.
We have also witnessed their greatness and confidence, today nobody in the world is going to beat me

I would like to see John win a big one; he is a great kid and deserves it.
Sometimes all it takes is to get over that hump and win one big one and you take off like a rocket.

He has all the tools.

Which is exactly the opposite of his table demeanor. He's more like the ultimate grinder, nose tackle.

I'd like to see John(fargo rating 780) play Skyler(771) in a big money match.

I'd like to see it if it's 10B and a race of 21 or longer. If it's ot at Teacher's room I'll take John even...and I like Justin's game. Johnnyt

I know John has been around for some time now, but he seems to just miss getting there at most tournaments. To me he looks like he did when he first came on the scene...bring it. I think I see that in him again in the last year or so. I feel he's ready for some big wins. Johnnyt

I knew he was getting ready to break out and win some big tournaments.
I can't see how anyone can say he is not a top tier pro. Johnnyt

I have to disagree especially of late. He's been very good and consistant and just running out and it's easy to see why he's called mr smooth. I guess if u don't like watching a strong break good fundamentals and runout pool u won't like watching him. Not to mention he's on quite a win streak and looking super confident
