JOHN MORRA VS TYLER $80K MATCH

It's hard for me to reconcile Styer's Fargorate. I think he's in the 750s and Morra is 791 as of today. I'm sure I'm wrong and the calculation is accurate, but he seems underclocked.

Anyway, I don't follow the ratings closely and not trying to rehash a thread on how accurate the ratings are.

Tyler presently at 762. I'd have guessed a few points higher, but not above 770.

John wins another to go 62-69 but comes up dry.

Can't play Tyler 10 ball without a top flight break. You can't figure you're breaking 'well enough' to be competitive and make it up somewhere else. There are a few guys in the world who can break as well as Tyler and play better after the break, but I think that's the only road to victory for an opponent of his.

also, I don’t disagree, but why isn’t he winning more events?

It’s because they’re playing 10 ball and Tyler’s break is so unbelievably dominant. If they played something like 8 ball Morra would beat him handily. Morra shoots better, but tyler has the best 10 ball break in the world. It’s worth 50 FargoRate points.

Styer is strong sparring his pals. Meaning in this case, Morra / Dominguez, and whoever that circle comprises. I'd like to see Gorst in the mix as well.

Yes, but as others have rightly noted, Tyler's 10-ball break is something special, and can be enough to "cover the spread" at that game.

this was 10-ball and no shot clock.. he has won an international 10-ball event at the kremlin cup a few years ago. maybe focusing on the predator tour would make more sense financially for him, idk
