No, that's not it, JR.

And I don't think anyone is expecting Pool Player in a Tux. Maybe a pair of kakis and a polo shirt? Would that be so extraordinary?

Lou Figueroa

I agree! Khakis shouldn't be an deal breaker in public when being streamed. I could see shorts...etc..etc.... if playing at home and not being streamed.

Those of you that think John is doing this 100% out of his willingness to hold the record are very mistaken. John has stated numerous times there is SUBSTANTIAL financial reward at stake from his sponsors if he breaks the record on video. He was also compensated for his 400+ runs in CA during his last attempt at the record. He's got plenty of people behind him making this whole thing happen. I don't think it's too much to ask for him to look somewhat professional when the opportunity comes for him to pocket #527.

If you're not sponsoring/paying him, it doesnt matter what you think.

Man. I've spun the shit out of a million balls and they never curve like that.

People are getting bogged down on so many details. Did he sneeze on a ball? Should he wear a bow tie? Who cares? I just want to see if he can break 526. I don’t care if he plays in boxer shorts- that would be pretty cool

I know I've said that the "image" of pool needs to be kept in mind when doing streams, playing in major tournaments etc..etc..., especially if your a pro player that has a lot 9f eyes on you everytime your at the table.

Having said that, and all I've said about it before, my biggest concern is, like you, I just want to see John or SOMEONE put alot of effort into 14.1.

14.1 is the most underrated billiard game on the planet. Its scoffed at by amateurs and pros alike.

I've seen pros pass 14.1 by simply because they say there's no money in it. I've seen a TON of amateurs pass on it because they say it's to easy.....lol......yet, those very players can't even put a 9 ball pack together. I seriously doubt they would even be considered as an intermediate level 14.1 player, much less good enough 14.1 player to say it's easier than rotation games.

Some on here are like myself.....huge WM fans but, unlike me they are a little unfair towards anyone that trys to beat his record.

I'm a huge WM fan but, I'm a bigger fan of 14.1 and the game NEEDS this attention.

I know 14.1 will probably never gain its former glory but, it sure would be nice to see it, at the very least, get the respect that rotation games get.

No.

If you are a pool fan, if you are a pool player, if you are a pool aficionado, if you care about pool, your opinion matters.

Lou Figueroa

If his "sponsors" dont care who are we to tell him what to do?
He gets enough crap already about every little thing.

Believe it or not, I actually agree with you guys, but its none of my business what he wears. Only super hardcore fans are gonna watch and care anyway.

They aren't telling him what to do - they are expressing their opinion over the situation.

In your own words, if you can't understand that, I don't know what else to say to you.

I don't get why so many people give John such a hard time. Is it possibly because he's so vocal about his politics on social media? I certainly don't agree with all of his takes but I still find him to be one of the most likable pros out there.

Heck I think this would be an interesting reality show.

Get a decent video crew together and travel around doing trying to break this record. If edited right I think even non-players could appreciate this pursuit. As I sit here today, I can say it would be much easier for me to climb Mount Everest than it would be for me to break this record. It really is a monumental undertaking and I hope he does it.

Quick way to go broke. People here have worked for years on Pool Reality shows. There have literally been dozens announced here and the only one that made the air was the lowest ranked cable show on the channel week after week after week. That;s the REALITY of it-No one is interested except us cultists and there are not enough of us.

And you're right that from a personal standpoint it's none of our business how he dresses. Or anyone for that matter. But I want to see pool grow and become more acceptable to the masses. So if someone breaks a record as important as Willies high run I'd like him/her to be a steward of our game and dress like one. Not some schmuck who looks like he is about to go to a play a league match.

That being said, if anyone could break that record I'd applaud them even if they were wearing a Gator jersey. Well, maybe not...but maybe.

John is citing issues with the Sardo rack on FB. While the racks may or may not be tight, my experience points to the balls. He is using a Predator set which is made by Cosmos out of South Korea. I own three sets manufactured by Cosmos: Predator Arcos Prototypes, Olhausen Signatures and Cosmos Diamond Ulta C's. Although I've not played with the Arcos due to their rarity, I've played quite a bit with the Orhausens and Diamond Ulta C's. I can say, these sets break dramatically different than Aramiths, Centennials and Cyclops. Like John, I though my issue was the rack (Slug Doctor). I changed ball sets prior to relaying the Slug Doctor and the break was consistent and as expected. It was indeed the balls and not the rack. I'd wager if he were to change the ball set we would see higher runs.

Even with a new set of balls, if they are just slightly off in their diameter consistency, it will be virtually impossible to rack the balls tightly with any type of rack being used. I don't understand if he's going for a 14.1 world record and playing on a Brunswick Gold Crown table, why he wouldn't be using anything other than a set of brand new Centennials? I guess maybe he's getting some $$ incentives from various manufacturers if in fact he's able to break the record using their equipment - balls, racks, cloth, table, etc.? That's the only reason I can think of why he wouldn't be using Centennials.

He was using Aramith Super Pros during his attempts in CA. I agree, the ball set would have to be new and he is most likely required to use the Predator balls for his attempts under his sponsorship agreement. My vote would be for Centennials as well.

How does that compare with the elite pros?
