John Schmidt runs 820

I gotta be a hack.
Opening break, If you're trying for the pocket hook, a scratch is possible. When done correctly, it shore is purdy and tough to get out of. Done wrong and she drains.

When I do a dumbcluck move and somebody asks how I did that my reply is always "years of practice!" Hard to believe what is possible when attention wanders!

Yep. Just look at my negative accomplishments the past 20 years!! I better start paying attention.🤔😉

Checkered flag, not the caution.

The one I liked to ignore was the black flag. The flagman held it out but didn't wave it around so I ignored it. All I was doing was giving one driver a friendly little nudge once or twice a lap to make sure he was awake. Then one turn I didn't hit him. He had set up expecting to get hit. When he wasn't hit he spun out all by himself!(grin) True story! The old boy in the flag stand didn't have the balls of a bull gerbil!

Later a friend of mine was flagman and I was assistant flagman. I handed him a flag occasionally but my main job was to beat on the fingers of the guys trying to climb the ladder and join us in the flagstand. Three indeed would have been a crowd!

Was hoping you'd chime in. Your specialty and all.
I'm like that guy. I spin out w no help from anybody.

Circle tracking was a test of nerves when you were learning. Instead of a few dozen watching like pool most of the time, I had three or four thousand watching all of my mistakes learning. My history, what little I had, was setting up an asphalt car. I got ticked at the promoter and went to dirt without a clue how to set up the car.

One day a man racing a different class came by my business where the car was parked. He suggested set it up square and then put an inch of rollout in it. That wasn't perfect but it took over a second off of my lap times! I still crashed and banged meeting everyone half way but once the car was working pretty good the driver started learning. Now I hit people where it at least looked like it could be accidental! Not that people who knew me had much doubt.

Bumped into another driver one night when neither of us had a car ready to race. He insisted I come meet his wife. "this is Hu." A blank look. "He drives that orange fifty-seven Chevy." Still blank. "The number 29 car." She exploded, "That son of a .... Oh, how are you doing?" Swapping to the sweet as honey tone all southern ladies can produce on demand. "Yes ma'am, that son of a bitch!" We got to be good friends but her early greeting gave me many a laugh! Friends and family were the ones that raised hell. Racer's wives and daughters were the most dangerous!

All I know is, if it weren't for Bobby Chamberlain hosting the whole high run challenge, this would be another bunch of secrecy "for eyes only" nonsense with us waiting forever to see it.
Thank you Bobby and Jayson for cutting through all the gatekeeping B.S. so that future runs get put up immediately.
Thanks for the kind words. All of my players have always and will always play on live streams and not pre recorded video that has potential of editing. All raw footage is live and to only add commentary if needed. Looking forward to the major event im putting together later this year hopefully and will keep everyone informed for sure.

you created a lot of interest in high runs and straight pool. which is good. hats off to you for that.

personally i would love to see high runs gravitate to true pro tournament conditions.
perhaps done there. even though that number would be much lower.
