Johnny's F-Bomb at the Mosconi Cup

Did anyone else see and hear when Johnny missed a shot yesterday and loudly dropped the F-bomb on live TV? I thought it was funny as hell. The commentators immediately appoligized for that and any future explatives as the pressure and stakes were high and the players' intense. I wonder if he will get any kind of fine since they are mic'd up and I'm sure they were told not to use profanity. I know that when Tiger Woods or any other PGA Pro drops a cuss word (usually "goddamnit" in Tiger's case, but I've heard him use the F-bomb as well) it's usually a $10,000 fine from the PGA, but that isn't a drop in the bucket for those guys. Maybe they could make it a $10 fine for pool players.

Johnny might be hurt a bit by a 10K fine.
I don't think Tiger would realize he dropped 50k even if he had to excrete it from his bowels. With his cash flow he could have Tourette's syndrome and never realize he was being fined.

That is funny.

I remember watching a golf playoff with Fred Couples and Phil Mickelson. On this particular hole, Freddie hit his second shot into a green-side bunker. As the camera panned back to Freddie right in the camera he says "Damn it. What a f@$#ing day!"

The commentators were a little quiet then someone chimed in and said "Well, after a few choice words from Fred Couples, we'll be right back after this break."

I thought it was funny as hell too.

I never heard that Couples was fined for that, but he wasn't in very many tournaments for a period of time after that.

Does the FCC have a say in what happens when situations like this occur? Have no idea, just asking.

Isn't this event only seen on PPV? Since its not network TV, I would think that would eliminate the problem??

lol

Johnny using the F-bomb? (shrugs)

Sigel uses the F-bomb as a noun, a verb, and adjective, a pronoun, eating utensils, etc.

The funniest thing I ever saw was during the live ESPN broadcast from Disney World about 10 years ago.

CJ Wiley was playing Roger Griffis and Mitch Laurence and Allen Hopkins are in the booth discussing the bad position that CJ had. They go into a discussion about how CJ should have known better - CJ looks a little uncomfortable - while he's stroking the shot, Allen and Mitch and still talking about the bad shot ... CJ dogs it because he could hear everything that Allen and Mitch were saying - CLEARLY- CJ gets up from his shooting stance and starts yelling at Allen and Mitch on live television telling them to basically STFU or keep their voices down ...rotflmao

If somebody has that on tape - please put it on youtube - it was priceless!

It's on SkySports which is broadcast all over the world to everywhere except the US, unless you have a package for satellite. The PPV feed just comes straight from the Skysports network and matchroom sports.

Right... and if I am not correct, please tell me, but isn't the US the minority as far as getting bent out of shape for a curse word or a boob or other stuff like that?

not sure, most live events are on a 5-10 second delay in order to combat this very thing, but some are still live. I know that the PGA implements a fine for usage of profanity (use to be $10,000) and I'm not sure about the other major sports. It would be interesting to see what was said to Johnny, maybe nothing. The Live coverage by Skysports is great and I wish it was readily available to the US. I watch every single second of the Ryder Cup live broadcast by TNT and NBC and I guess it is the same in Europe and elsewhere for the Mosconi Cup and other Billiard events on SkySports.

Well he should know better than to cuss in a poolroom...I mean it is posted on the wall somewhere in every poolroom across the country..No Profanity and No Gambling....LOL!!

They now have hockey players mic'd up too. If fines were implemented I am sure the combined money from this weeks games could pay off the debt of the IPT.

Profanity and sports go hand in hand in many situations and to force too much on what a player says takes away from the raw emotion we see and appreciate from those atheletes.

Now I am not condoning the use of profanity, but if you listen to radio or watch television now as opposed to 10 years ago you will see that society is becoming desensitized to that kind of language. Never before would you hear "ass", "*****", "slut","whore", and a large variety of words ever on a show like Cheers or any other popular show of that era. Now it seems only common place.

If it is ok on Desperate Housewives, CSI, and every reality show on tv then why punish an athelete that is focused on a task at hand rather than paid actors who are being paid to say what someone else writes?

If we are going to begin fining players then there should be fines for the writers and producers as well as actors of today's television market. IMO

I am apalled. I will never watch or play, or be influenced by the game of billiards again. I will not associate with any one of these cussing mother fu$%ers ever again. Oh shit, sorry. Like I was saying, never again. Never fu$%ing again. Oh shit, sorry. These guys should be able to hold their .........

There was a new poolroom in Tampa just a few years ago that enforced the "No Cursing" rule....now its closed. Lasted about a year. Johnnyt

It really makes me pull for Tiger or any athelete that shows that type of emotion in competition. To me it shows raw, gut emotion and says alot about certain players' will to win. Not that people who don't lose it occasionally don't have a will to win.

I know how tough it is in regional tournaments. I can imagine the pressure in an event like the Mosconi Cup.

i remember something like that happening. and then, i believe, after that i think CJ was playing Efren, and Allen/Mitch had made a comment or two about CJ not playing a shot too well, and i guess CJ heard them. he basically got mad, and the announcers continued by saying CJ is out of it right now.

afterwards, CJ was looking at the camera, and made a comment about "He didnt want me to win" or something like that.

i still have that one on tape.

I actually heard him drop one on an ESPN televised match a while back. He muttered it under his breath after a missed shot. I had to rewind it a couple of times to make sure but it was there. :)
