Joint adapter

I got a couple of 3/8 x 10 shafts I wish I could use on my 5/16 x14 jointed cue.
Does anyone know if an adapter like this exists?

I have never heard of this and I don't think it would work good. The shafts could be converted by a cuesmith but anything else would feel funky.

I've got an extra Predator shaft with a 5/16 x14 joint that I'd like to sell to a friend. However, his cue has a different joint type than mine. Does anyone know how much it would cost for him to have a cuesmith convert the joint type?

The last one I did was for myself, I was able to drill it out and thread
A female insert in with an expanding glue. This worked well and I still shoot with this cue. I don't know what a real cuemaker would charge for this. Might be a better chance of finding out on the ask a cuemaker part of the forum.

Adapter

I would agree that odds are that it would change the feel of the cue.
Also it would add some length.

I can't believe that no one has at least tried this before.
I know I am not first guy who wished he could use a shaft on more than one cue regardless of the pin on the butt.

So okay, assuming that an adapter is out of the question...
Can anyone give me a ball park on what it would cost to get a joint swicthed over?

to bore, plug and retap a shaft its typically 25-30+ shipping

any of us cuemakers or repair men on here should be able to do it, but RAT is the man for most repair work on here unless you have a local guy that can do it.

Yeah, I wish I could switch the engine back and forth from my pick up truck to my
Van too:).

Seriously, I could make you an adapter - but I can't tell you how
much of a bad idea this is.

Would you have to bore plug and bore and retap
A insert for 5/16x14 is 7/16x14 or7/16x20
The other shaft is 3/8x10
Could you just bore and retap

Another problem is joint diameter
If one is .840 and the other is .850 you will feel a lip

None exist to my knowledge. I designed one several years ago called The General Joint Adapter but I never did the tooling to make them.

Would add 1-2" to a cue and mess with the balance and feel the way I designed them. Essentially a joint protector with another joint on top of it is the basic idea.

Only Universal shafts have a plug that you can change for any joint style.
