Hello!
I am a keen amateur player so I've decided to make myself a pool cue as a project.
The materials i use are: African ebony for the butt and hard rock maple for the shaft.
Since i am not an experienced cue maker, I do not yet want to make any splices.
The ebony I have goes to about 1/3 of the cue's length, the rest is the maple. Is it okay to join the cue where the wood types meet or is it essential for the joint to be at 1/2 of the cue's length. I would go with the composite joint.
The other thing i want to know is what is the best glue to attach the tip (Kamui Standard M Black with no polycarbonate layer) to the ferrule (also high-end).
Thank you,
Luke
