This joint is busted, knocked out of "square", can it be fixed or is it trash? Note the joint collar in out of alignment.

Drill a 1/4 in hole through the butt cap and put in a leather wrist thong. Take a bench grinder and sharpen the joint screw to a sharp point and use it to pick up papers a long the road.

Are you in wichita? If so, let me know. I'll fix it, and make you a matching shaft for it (if it's just the joint rings that are out of whack, and not the cue itself).

Easy fix and relatively inexpensive. A new joint collar will likely be the easiest way to fix it & it will be around $50 or so, maybe cheaper depending on who's doing it. Shaft can be anywhere from $100 up to a couple hundred. I'd recommend Ryan at Muellers. This is his specialty and he's the best price you can get for truly professional work.

edit: i'm by no means saying not to take it to your local guy

There may be more to it than immediately meets the eye.
I don't have x-ray vision, but it's quite likely that the joint tenon is broke.
I'd say the pin is bent also.
Anyone who wants that repair for $50 can have at it. I'd ask double that.

Possibly, wouldn't know til it was cut off, but doesn't look all that bad to me. A quick spin in the lathe will tell you everything you need to know before any work begins, and if it is severe the work can be rejected or renegotiated.

I was assuming the conversion to trash picker was probably on target from the looks of it, but I don't know squat. The stick is on eBay, currently at $20. I was wondering whether to "rescue" it or not. Yes I am in Wichita. Danutz, do you have any sticks here on the forum?

Holy crap!

How come half the broken cues I watch on Ebay end up posted here? LOL!

I think these are fun projects for the hopless idiots like myself. I have a few Fixer-uppers waiting....but none nearly as bad as this.

Somebody can put Humpty together again without breaking the bank.....well....not for sure....but I am guessing it's so. There are some that are game in this thread after all.

Fix the old girl and shoot with her! Yeah, yeah....waste of money and all that....but if anybody here claims they have not wasted money on a pool cue they are fibbing. :D

If you like the cue, it can be fixed. I don't see it as that difficult of a repair. Its hard to quote a price without seeing it but KJ is probably pretty close.
