I want to discuss joints. whats the best whats the worst?
I was surprised to see alot of pros not using uni loc why is this?

uni loc sucks JMHO they lossen when you play and sometimes lock up and wont come apart. altogether just a bad joint for a playing cue.

Unilocs are a PITA. :(

They are the only joint pin that requires cleaning.

They are not worth the benefit of a quick connect/disconnect, imo.

i know a lot of people satisfied with uniloc

thats because they dont know better.

as far as material, ivory, SS etc. The biggest effect a joint has on a cue is balance point. not how hard it hits or soft etc. When you put a SS joint on a cue you move a lot of weight up front, when you use a wood to wood with a G-10 pin your not adding any weight to the middle of the cue. Most of the time people dont consider this fact, balance point is the biggest factor of joint material-not hit. They confuse the hit with the balance point. Infact I dont think this topic has ever been mentioned here before, I just spoke to Tony at Black boar for a hour about this topic an hour ago.He is triple smart and right.

I had both problems with my Predator cue. Took 4 dudes to loosen it once. Didn't hurt it. Glad I don't have a uni-lock anymore.

I have 2 uni-loc predators.
Never had a problem with the one but
the BK2 is a son of a ***** to get
apart sometimes. I'll have to say other
then that I like the uni-loc.

This is very true. I have a steel jointed cue that was 17.25 oz when I picked it up new. The A-joint was built with a threaded wood tenon, so no extra weight there. I added a 1 oz weight bolt, and at 18.25 oz, the cues balance point moved back a good 1/4 inch to about 19.25" ...but it doesn't hit like heavier steel jointed cues I've tried, it still hits pretty soft.
