Josh Roberts continues to improve in 3 areas, one pocket, 9(10) ball, and announcing.

He had a really strong finish in the Scotty Townsend Memorial Tournament and, I think, surprised a few people.

I look for him to continue to improve.

AND, Mary Kenniston really thinks he is the Bomb, so he's got that going for him, also!!

Josh is certainly no longer a surprise or under the radar among those that keep up with it.

I’m a big fan of josh Roberts. The first time I ever saw him play was the 16 or 17 us open 8 ball when they played on small tables. He had a perfect set alongside SVB with alternate breaks. Except JR got kicked in once on the break.

After that display I had to check him out and found out he’s a pretty crafty 1P player. His commentating is real good too, he’s knowledgeable and has a great voice for it.

I hope he does big things and gets rich on monies or life experiences.

Congratulations to "Dodong Diamond" James Aranas for winning the 2020 Scotty Townsend Memorial 9-Ball!

"The Beast" Josh Roberts shot incredible to take an amazing 2nd!

Josh was in true Beast mode those last few matches and just came up a hair short at the end of the finals 2nd set trying to double dip James.

After losing his 1st match to John Gabriel he won 13 matches in a row :yikes:

He made a hell of a run at it on the one loss side some of the guys he beat John Hennesse,Rob Saez,Justin Hall,F. Bustamante,Tony Chohan,Billy Thorpe,Shane Mcminn and James Aranas in the 1st set of the finals  :clapping:

His commentary is TOP notch too.

He has a good future. Lots of talent and is getting it done.

Respect

His commentating can be good. Too much arguing and coming off as an a-hole in his working with Jeremy Jones in the 1P matches that I listened too in the Townsend event.

Josh Roberts has always been one of my favorite players. He is aggressive and smart, and in the matches I have watched, he came with it under pressure.

To me, he is a prime example of talent that is not cultivated in our country. As far as I can tell, he scratches out a living on the bar table circuit and in action matches. I believe all of our players would be better (including him), if there was something like the Euro Tour here.

He is not known for his rotation play, but I watched him beat a well-known rotation player in an even action match several years ago in a venue that the other guy was more at home in.

Good to see Josh doing well. He's no spring chicken now at age 38. He was just flying around the table last night in his last few matches -- fun to watch.

He really is known for his rotation game, both in tournament and action, he has played and beaten some of the best and not just bar table, any table. He does more than scratch out a living when you consider the kinda of money he plays for, the bigger the money the better he plays. A really cool guy, I wish him well!

I like Josh, talked to him a little when he was down here in Texas last year for a big one pocket tourney. Very nice and approachable guy.

As far as commentary, I personally think he talks a little too much for my taste. There were a couple of matches it was non stop. I like some insight, but non stop talk....not really my thing.

Who can beat aranas in a hair competition?

Coming up a hair short is one damn near amazing!

At the last US Open in Virginia everyone went do Q Masters like they always do.

I was watching Thorpe and Woodward play some 3 cushion with Mike Delauder.

After about 20 minutes I turn to my left to see who's standing there, Josh Roberts. I nearly fell over.

We stood there with our cue cases over the shoulder and talked for a while and both moved on, really nice guy. I'm very interested to hear what his commentary is like, I'll bet it's superb.

Josh has always been one of the good guys. Like y'all said, smart, approachable and just a fun dude to talk to. 12 or 13 years ago he and the "Columbia Boys" would come down to Charleston and take on anyone they could get a game with. They lost a lot but also won a lot, once Josh's game took off it became harder and harder for him to get a game. I still remember watching him run out at Tuckers like it was yesterday! His commentating is hit or miss to me although I did enjoy his back and forth with Alex the other day. All in all he is doing better all around just like he should! Proud to say he represents the Carolinas too.

I met Mary at the 1992 us open pool tournament in NYC, She was very friendly to the fans, and seemed to be a real nice person

can't disagree about some arguing.

On the other hand, he and Jeremy give one the "old school" and the"young lions" approach to a match.
