Joss cues

Its pretty hard to go wrong with a Joss cue. Their humble non sneaky sneakies with phenolic joints and linen insert 5/16-14 joints have always played lights out and still do. Also Dan’s “HP” series of low deflection maple shafts are great, basically quite similar in style & feel to 314’s but not spliced and more durable IMO.

No we have brick and mortar stores here in Denver, are you new here?
Been to best quality billards... if you want a Viking or a McDermott they have those... not much more and I called Fodor today and asked about a Pechauer and they had 2 and no lucasi's... this was the Park Meadows store. I am going there tomorrow and hang a Cynergy 15k on my Meucci and see how I like it. But neither store has what I would consider a huge selection. Now back in the day Showcase Billards was the place to go for a cue. I've lived in Denver for 45 years and the Billard stores that I remember are long gone.

I predict you’ll like the Cynergy 15k on your Meucci. ✌️

Joss is one of the iconic cues Made I America. Dan Janes is and has always been at the helm even today. I had a question once called and he picked up the phone on the second ring. No secretary or voice mail but Dan himself. Old school service and pride in his product, that is what you can expect from Joss Cues.

Never read or heard of any negative business transactions either. I would give him and his business a solid A+.... JMO!

Yup.
Dan made me a custom a few years back.
Excellent to work with and he is accessible.
Cue came out beautiful and on time.

I have the Joss Thor Hammer Break cue. It is very nicely made so I suspect they make a fine player for the money.

I used to own a 1990 Joss west until it got stolen... and was wondering how the new Joss cues are. Is Dan Janes involved with these cues?

Thanks.
I 0wn 6 joss cues and love them. Only cue I will use. Yes Dan is still
at the helm and will work with you to get you what you want. Good people, Dan
his son and Debbie

I spoke in length with Dan Janes about the Color of Money cue , N7 as it is listed , and He told me that Himself and His Son are the only 2 people who builds their cues. No manufactured line just those 2 from start to finish. They build every cue that comes out of their shop. I figured that is as close to a Custom as you can get from a production company. Joss is top notch and that COM is timeless and plays Fantastic

Best Quality billiards is my go to for a new tip.
they do a good job and usually it's a one day turn around.
And I live 10 minutes from their store.
Showcase Billiard's was Disney Land for a pool player.

A about 3 years ago, one of my league teammates played with a reasoanbly new Joss sneaky Pete. He let me hit some balls with it and it impressed me. Very good cue, IMO.

Joss is a great cue, still makes a great cue with its standard maple shaft. Definitely would get one over a Schon or Pechauer. But if you are planning to get a low deflection shaft, then either will do. A Mezz cue would also be an excellent option.

That's amazing. I'm not saying they don't but, could someone tell me how two people could make all those cues for all those retailers by their selves? That is the picture of efficiency.
BTW love their cues. I've owened several over the years and never had a complaint with the quality of the work.
In fact, I gave one to each of my grandkids that are old enough to play and take care of a cue.

My guess is they have specialized equipment similar to McDermott where they are designed to just churn out cues.

Now I just need to decide between a Joss, Schon or Pechauer.
I haven't played with Schon, but I've tried Joss and much prefer Pechauer. Their quality is outstanding. They own their own timberland, harvest their own trees, and built a machine shop so every screw and joint is build in-house. Who else does that? Pechauer is also a much better value as Joss prices have increased significantly during the past several years. Finally, Pechauer customer service also blows Joss away, as I've had some bad experience with them. Lots of people love Joss and that's fine but Pechauer is superior in every aspect in my opinion. Now stand by as Joss owners voice their outrage.

Here’s what no one is saying, which would be helpful to you, with regards to the future of your purchase. Pechauer cues are made with a proprietary joint pin, and a .850 joint diameter. Aftermarket shafts don’t fit particularly well, except if they come from Pechauer. Schon? Quality is all over the map the past 6 years. Joss? Same owner since day one. He uses a fairly readily available joint pin. And has a standard joint diameter of .840”. Every aftermarket shaft fits. So, for my money, you’re getting far more options with the Joss. I could go more into construction, but I usually stress future proofing your cue if you’re going to put down a decent amount of money.

TL;DR: Buy the Joss, of those 3 choices.
