came across a joss west the owner bought new in 77. Finish is about 85% and has a cracked ferrule. I assume the best place to have it refinished is Joss, but do no know. Any suggestions??

Send it to Bill Stroud. Someone on here will probably post his contact information for you. Cues like JW it's best to send to the maker to have them do any work. If the logo ends up disappearing they are the only ones that can legally put it back on.

PS. You can probably do a search for Stroud and you will probably find his contact info.

the butt cap, if not damaged, wouldn't need to be touched for a refinish.

I agree that in most cases, the original maker is the way to go.... But in the case of jw, i'd go with a 3rd party unless it's a real highend cue. The lower end cues don't bring big money, and with what bill would charge for the refinish, it just doesn't make sense to wait that long.

Marcus <--------waited 5 months for a logo to be put on a jw, and paid 150 dollars for it

I sent imy JW to Bill and had it back in 2 weeks or less. He refused to take any money to relabel my cue but I sent him $50 for his time.

But I agree, unless you want to get it relabeled I recommend Scot with Proficient or Ryan at Muellers. Quick turn around and excellent work.

Thanks
Ken
