I recently won an eBay auction for Joss CC-03 cue. I have not recieved/picked up it yet, but I saw it had Joss engraved on the SS joint and. A1029??? Serial number, but it does not say Joss on the shaft collar. Did Joss offer cues without the Joss logo on the shaft or it most likely not a Joss shaft?
If it's not a Joss shaft then I will have to file an "Item Not As Described" claim. It was from a local seller so I was planning to pick the cure up in person therefore I have not paid for the cue yet.

I have owned 3 Joss cues. All had the serial number of the collar of the butt. I don't believe Joss was printed on any of the shafts.

The only Joss shafts I have ever seen that said Joss on the shaft was the J-series from the 1980's, which had Joss on the shaft and joint collar in Gold letters.

The old "Gold letter JOSS" cues had markings on the collar. The latest JOSS cues have JOSS near the collar in the wood.

I believe your cue was made about 1999. It should not have JOSS on the joint collar, the shaft should not be marked at all in fact. It should be a plain black collar.

It may or may not be a JOSS shaft.

.

The Joss Cues that we have been getting over the last year or possibly two have a black Joss logo with 1202 underneath. Not sure what the numbers mean but that is the way we get them now.
There is also a serial number etched on the joint.

Got a link to the cue? I've been searching since last night, and cannot locate any ebay offering for this model cue.

If you have a Joss shaft and it says Joss in gold lettering on the black joint collar on the shaft then there also should be the same Joss lettering on the same black collar just bellow the joint.

If you have a shaft with gold lettering and it does not have the same letters anywhere on the cue that means its not the matching shaft. The gold letters stopped just before 98 then the number showed up on the stainless steel joints.

Then back in 08 the started putting the little Joss logo right above the shaft collar. Pretty much what Chop Doc said.
