Hello, I have a older joss west cue and i was wondering if i should get it refinished or will that diminish the value? The cue shoots great as is but im sure ill be selling it at some point. Do collectors want it original?

Depends on how bad the finish is now. You have to ask yourself if you can make 200.00 more than your asking price you have in mind now as well. It might help if you post some pictures of the cue.

Thanks for the reply. Im not sure of the value. You can see the finish wore off a little ahed of the wrap. Its just a plain jw 4 points irish lineb

Need to know length, weight, diameter of the shafts at the tip, type of joint, veneers on the points or not, type of woods (points, butt and forearm), delrin buttcap or Hoppe-style, pictures, etc.

Just based on what you've stated, plain rosewood points with one shaft (likely <12.5mm after all these years), probably 57" long and over 20 oz., I would estimate $400 - $700 depending on condition and straightness.

I would think as-is 500-650ish. Not sure in this current market if you would realize the cost of a refinish.....unless perhaps if the cue is a good playable weight (19.0-19.5), with full shaft (12.8-13) and dead nuts straight.

What f i get it refinished? Will that raise the value at all?

I typically refinish cues before I sell them.

This cue isn't worth much, probably would be a loser to refinish if you are planning on selling.

I don't think it would go for over $400, IMO. And I am a huge JW fan.

Ill probably go through samsra to get it done. I also probably replace the wrap and tip too. Any recommondations on types of tips or wraps?

What are the weight for the butt and shaft?
What is the tip size?
Are they straight together and apart?

Thanks.

Hate to be a me too!BUT

I have to agree with those who praise Scot Serbine of Proficient
I have had dealings ,purchasing having cues re-done and just plain ole questions about the probability of refinishing of cues
For myself Scot gets my business but as a dealer I usually send refurbs to the makers
