I recently aquired a JossWest in a trade and thought the pin was a 5/16x14, however none of my 5/16x14 shafts will fit it. Does anyone know what pin JossWest uses? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Most local Hardware stores will have a THREAD GAGE. Just take your Cue there and Check the Thread size.
5/16 x 18 (SAE) and 5/16 x 14 look very similar but are not interchangeable.

Some of the early Joss West cues used a 5/16x18 pin. I am just guessing, but yours is probably an early 70's. My playing cue is similar to yours and is a 5/16x18 pin.

Mine is a 1988. I also have 5/16x18 shafts, they dont fit either.
Bill used a different 5/16x14 pin on many of his cues. I think they were either known as a ACME or a MESS 5/16x14. You would have to do a search on here to find out. There has been several other threads discussing this.
The different between the two is the edges of the pin. I don't know if a standard 5/16x14 has rounded or squared edges. The ACME is one and the standard is the other.
I ran into this same problem when I bought my JossWest.
Post a picture of the pin. That would help greatly.

Bill used an Acme 5/16x14 screw, and you can't find a tap for it. You would most likely have to go to Stroud to get a shaft for it, but you might try KJ or maybe Rat cues. They both seem to have all the goodies for odd ball threads.
Whatever you do, don't let someone rethread or change the pin. I have seen this done too many times, and it ruins the value of the cue!
