I know this is the For Sale forum but thought maybe id get a quicker answer here. I recently aquired a JossWest with what i thought was a 5/16x14 pin, however none of my shafts that are 5/16x14 fit it, tried some that were 5/16x18 also but they didnt fit either. Does anyone know if JossWest used a special pin? It seems to be 5/16 but with an odd thread pitch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Take some pictures of your Josswest pin and ask in the cuemaker forum. That may help you. You may have 5/16-14 ACME "SQUARE THREADS".
I can answer you question since this exact same thing happened to me. I bought a used (very nice cue) JW with a 5/16x14 joint thinking that I could use my predator shafts on the cue. To my surprise my shafts wouldn't screw on to the joint pin and I didn't know what the problem was. I play with predator shafts and this problem was big for me. I liked the cue a lot and it was in like new condition, but the odd thread joint pin wiped out my enthusiasm for the cue.
The joint screw is an ACME thread 5/16x14 and a regular 5/16x14 thread shaft will not work on it! I ended up selling my JW because of this problem and I still don't understand why some cue makers use odd threaded joint pins.

Does anyone have inserts with this thread?
Try PMing Rat Cues (Ryan Theewan of Muellers). He will probably be able to help. If inserts for the ACME pin are unavailable, consider having the pin and existing inserts changed to standard 5/16x14.

The pin in question IS a 5/16 X 14 ACME - the pins were made special for Bill
Stroud by PDC Macine (AKA - Paul Costain AKA - Uni-LOc).
To get you shafts with 5/16 X 14 standard pitch thread to fit the Acme pin simply have the brass inserts re-tapped with the Acme tap.

If the 5/16x14 ACME pins were made special for Bill Stroud are ACME 5/16x14 taps easy to come by? It seems like a tap for 5/16x14 ACME threads might be hard to find and I guess there's a reason why you would want an odd ball thread like ACME, but I don't know what it is.
I didn't want to change the threads to ACME threads on my predator shafts because I had other cues with regular 5/16x14 threads that those shafts fit.
