Judd efren taper

Just shot with a Judd jt1 with the efren taper... absolutely unforgiving. Can't make a ball I haven't been that frustrated in years. I'm absolutely a 13mm guy. Anyone else hit with that taper...how does efren play with that.

12mm very long.. it's almost as if there is no taper at all... made me look like i just picked up a cue for the first time in my life.

I play with his taper.........

Judd makes all my shafts at efrens taper at 12mm, most of em are now down to 11 YIKES! LOVE this taper. Except it aint whippy at all. Each one of em play surprisingly stiff. My efren tapered shafts are stiffer than my ob-1 shafts. Hmmmmmmm

a lot of filipinos in the bay area play with judds just like efren does. i wouldn't be surprised at all if they went so far as to even have his taper used

Judd

I know that unforgiving feel although my Judd cue seems perfect in every way.
I must have got the "Judd" taper

Interesting thread, I knew that Efren played with a Judd but I didn't know about his special taper

I was talking to Judd about it yesterday and he's like "hey I don't even like it really, but who am I to tell efren anything about how he wants his shaft tapered." I agree. but there is no room for error with it.. very tough. Pat you must have one hell of a stroke to be playing with those shafts.

imo is easier to play with a thinner shaft...you can move the cueball with less effort so you don't have to force too many shots, moreover they deflect less than 13 mm shafts so they're more accurate...

i used to shoot with a bce snooker cue with a 9 mm tip,it has no deflection at all, less than a z2 shaft!!!...and when i was in better form i ran 3 9-ball racks in a row with it...

The cue Efren played with and won the one pocket in Galveston was not a Judd,At least I don't think it was. It was a full splice Titleist looking cue with no wrap and Ivory joint.

It looked almost like the one John Nemic from Dallas made me.Iwas told Efrens was 12.25 by someone who should know, but I couldn't swear to it

He has a spider bridge and a stroke slip.
I think a shorter ferrule would help it out.
I remember the time Efren got his Moochi. He had Judd take more wood out of the shaft.
Efren shoots with Diveney conversion right now .

I read that the cue Efren used in Galveston was made by Pat Diviney"
wrapless hoppe style cue"

Ur tellin me!

Man I'll tell you what, I'm shocked myself that I play with shafts that thin and still be able to drive shots in at 100mph with accuracy! But believe me, there aint nuthin more humbling than when you see O Dominguez do it with an 8mm tip shaft! THAT'S completely ridiculous!

Im not shocked either.....

Its really the perfect taper for that stereo typical Filipino style of stroke. A nice long taper with a slow pregression.

My version is 12MM tip and 13MM at the 16" inch point.
Stiff joint to the 6" from the joint.

Alcano's shaft is even more brutal than Efren's.
Oscar's billiard taper is sumthin' else.

" So are the guys using quite a stiff playing cue , or shaft???

it's all in the shaft.............

Most of the Filipino pros play with a long stiff taper, there are few that like a whippy type shaft

Can anyone provide a blueprint of the "Efren Taper"........measurements at 1" increments from tip to joint end?
