In fact, just thinking about that, how would Scotch Doubles work in Straight Pool? You'd have to talk to each other to plan the pattern. Can partners talk to each other? If not, it could make for some interesting end-rack pattern play.

I will have to concede to your contention that no one will ever exceed the British in their desire to dominate the world. The only reason I am even critical of them is that they have left people all over the world driving on the wrong side of the road.
As far as "betting more" goes, it's curious you should mention it - it seems as soon as people see me shoot, that is the first thing they ask - "Will he bet more?"

Even after TheOne's vicious, slanderous, libelous (though somewhat accurate) attack on my good friend (and generous AZB room patron) sjm; I hold no ill feelings - WE ARE JUST KIDDING AROUND.
I am hoping to meet TheOne during one of his visits. Believe me, if someone told me I couldn't ever leave my basement I would be in seventh heaven (I have a NICE basement) - no moths allowed.
I'd love to play some scotch 14.1 (7.05?)! I've done it a few times. It's usually pretty fun, since both players are completely focused. Nobody wants to end the run for his partner.
But I ain't playing any of this "talk to your partner" crap. That's where the fun comes in, lol. Can even come down to a game of chicken - play position to force your partner to play YOUR pattern, rather than his.
