I want to buy a Jump/Break cue and have never tried any of the production cues on the market (Tiger / Predator / Ect). Please share with me any comments you have on any of Jump/Breaks on the market. I am looking to spend about $200 to $250 for a decent used cue.

Thanks,
Alex

I have been very impressed with the basic McDermott stinger. Under 200, well built and solid. The only break cues that I can say hit harder are predators.

I would get one from Joe Bouska

they're rare but if you can fid a used one you should get yourself a mace jump break cue. they were good enough for johnny archer for years and they play good too if you wanna go that route.

if you wanna spend less get yourself a j&j. they're the best performing cue dollar for dollar.

Check out the Players HXTP 1 or 2. Fantastic value. It breaks apart into 4 pieces for a lot of options for jumping and breaking. I've had mine for a while and it's awesome. Jumps effortlessly and breaks hard. Definitely wont be disapointed.

Just know that you get what you pay for. The higher end J/B's perform, no doubt about that. The lower end J/B's are exactly that, low end.

If you're ballin on a budget, there are a number of good J/B's you can find in the $200 range.

That's not really true. as long as you have good form you're going to break ok no matter what you use. i break just as well breaking off the rack as i do with a predator bk2 or any other high end break cue. some do break better but not 200 dollars better. i broke with a 40 dollar j&j jump break cue and got great results with no problem

True, but it's more of a preference thing. The elite break cue, action jump/break, and player jump/break I've played with were all OK and did their job. But, quality was lacking.

I wish I would have done the "buy once/cry once" thing at first.

I had a lot of trouble learning how to jump. I tried the Jester and jumped a full ball the first try. I ended up buying it. The jump and jump/break cue both work great! I even play with my jump/break cue in APA using english without a problem.

I also tried The Stinger from Mc Dermott and Mezz and same results very good cue but only tried the jump cue. Saw Alison Fisher playing at the EXPO with her Poison jump cue. She didnt seem to have any issues LOL.

Gets my vote! I've used multiple custom and production models to include J&J, Predator, Action, Cuetec. The Players HXT has a lot to offer and is equal or better than the rest and a fair price.

I'll chime in with another vote for the Player's in the $200 - $250 range. A buddy of mine has one. It breaks a ton and jumps well too.
It does both well enough that I'm thinking of buying one, but I have a jump/break coming from Andy Gilbert soon.
They're not in the same price range, so comparing them may be silly, but does anyone have experience with both the Player's and the Gilbert J/Bs and feel like offering their thoughts on the two?

I hear nothing but good things abouut alex brick jb cues I have j&j but think brick is my next one

my favorite J/B cue under $200 is poison. The players cue everyone talks about is a good deal but it breaks "soft". plus the poison cue look pretty cool and the gtx grip feels awsome.
