Good Evening AZ'ers,

How's everybody doing?

I'm thinking about buying a Jump/Break cue with a phenolic tip (or something hard).

I did a search here on the forum and found that most people think that the Fury is the cue that's the most bang for the buck.

I really dig the X Breaker but it's way out of my price range. Oh well.

Also, I was curious if anybody owns a Mezz Power Break, ZR, Viking F112, or Predator BK2.

i like the fury although i dont own one. I originally bought a sledgehammer, which worked great, but i got paranoid about having such an expensive break stick (everyone wanting to borrow it), so then i bought 2 cheap break/jumps of ebay, one without the phenolic and a j&j with. The jj is my main break cue, i jump well with it, and its all dinged up and i only got 40 bucks in it so im happy. I like the fury a little better, i think its how the wrap comes down to the buttcap, i just like how it feels. If price was no object id probably go with a varney jump/break. Really i dont think you can go wrong with any of the phenolic jump/break cues out there, its the indian not the arrow anyway.
 
Predator BK2 is a very solid breaker. The Fury,to me, was a decent compromise if you like the J/B combo as one unit, IMO
 
J&J hands down, I got mine and now every time I go to the hall everyone who knows me is taking my break cue to play with, I currently have 5 people wanting me to order them thru a member on here (chrisonline) to get for them. Overall its a winner here.

I just checked out the oklahomabilliards.com web-site. While the cues look very nice there is no mention of price or specifications.

I am looking for a workhorse jump/break that won't cost me that much with a phenolic tip/ferrule combo. The Fury seems to be the best out there.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have owned two sledgehammers and tried many other jump breaks and I just haven't tried anything that hits harder with the control it has.

I agree as well. I've owned both a Fury Break/Jump and a Stinger. By far, the Stinger is a much better hitting break cue. The Fury felt hollow and I also noticed it starting to crack at the joint (black phenolic portion) after only a few months use.

Yes, I own all the jump break and break cues you mentioned...and I also own a X Breaker...:D :D ;) ;)

I happen to think the Stinger is a one of the best jump break cues on the market and i happen to have a lightly used one i'd sell for 225 shipped.
 
I've used the Mezz break cue, and I liked it but I didn't love it. It was very easy to stroke, and it felt really solid and broke the balls up really nicely with little effort. However, I didn't care for the price (which I can't remember for sure right now). I remember however that for what the Mezz would cost, I would have been able to afford the X-Breaker or some other 'better' break cue for only a couple bucks more.

I own a Fury and love it. It has the carbon fibre ferrule / tip. I get very good control of the cueball and it breaks them very hard. For the money you can't go wrong, I only paid $115 for mine brand new shipped.
 
My Fury Sucks

I bought a Fury jump/break with the phenolic tip in Vegas back in May. I've not been happy with it at all. I think mostly because I just can't get used to breaking with a flat (and I mean really, really flat) tip. Also, the phenolic has a few chips where I've accidentally hit the side of the tip. As far a the jump cue, it's just too heavy.

The tip is not flat at all on my Fury. It is between a nickel and dime radius. Maybe the chipping is why they changed to carbon fibre.
 
I've heard more about j+j break cues giving the most bang for the buck than fury by far. 60 bucks shipped with joint protectors seems like a great deal if you can only spend that much. from all the hype I'd go with one of those (I've tried a brand new fury before and it didn't hold a can of beans to my varney, btw) instead of a fury. If you want a sleek J/B that gives a good spread and will sink often if your shot is true go with a Varney.
