Does that mean?
that you have a Break/Jump cue now, and are unhappy with the Jump portion of the cue? This would not be uncommon, because quite a few of them might be good on 1 part, but just mediorce on the other.
Are you wanting to just go with a 'production' type of jump cue, or a custom one? And what is your price range?
Do you 'dart' as well as 'stroke' on jump shots?
Do you want a phenolic tip on it, or something else?
I don't know if the 'Predator Air' is all that popular, it was just a new product, and players wanted to try it out, which accounted for its initial popularity.

Good questions. I currently have a J&J JB with a phenolic tip which does break and jump adequately. I also have a Lucasi JB with a leather tip, which doesn't jump well.
Using a golf analogy, I have a pitching wedge, lob wedge, gap wedge and a sand wedge - they all have separate uses and benefits. Likewise, I'm beginning to think that the same may well apply with pool. Therefore, I'm considering getting a BK2 for breaking, and wanting to get some ideas about a jump cue with a phenolic tip. Price range, preferrably, $200 or under.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like a 3-piece cue. That's the reason I'm not considering the Predator Air. I have 2x4 case and wouldn't want to get a 3x5/3x6 case just because of the jump cue. Therefore, looking for one with a 13" butt to fit into the butt sleeve on my 2x4 case.

Jump Cue
I have a jump break and a dedicated jump cue. The dedicated jump is the Stealth AT1 which I have had for several years. It is absoloutley amazing and I would not give this cue up for any other. At the APA nationals in August I tried the Predator Air, the Frog, Tadpole, as well as many others and nothing out performs this Stealth. You can buy a small case that will strap onto the side of your case but I just keep it in my Instroke case and store the two peice handle in the large pouch. The two peice handle is so you can break down to do dart stroke jumps and you can even use just the shaft. I have jumped over balls 1/4" apart or three feet away with this cue! Ned Morris was on hand and showed me how to use it. Good luck and hope this helps..

I also have a J&J, and am very pleased with it, especially for the money. Personally, I have only seen 1 jump cue that I would go to from the J&J jump portion, and that was the X-Jumper, which I have tried out, but it is not made any more, but I made my friend swear that if he ever sells it for any reason, that I get a chance to buy it first.
The 'light' jump cues tend to have accuracy problems, and the 'heavy' jump cues tend to not jump as close, but are more accurate. It took me some getting used to a phenolic tip for jumping, but now I do pretty good with it.
Not as good accuracy wise as my first jump cue, an original 46" Frog, but I can jump closer now. I do like the quick release joint when I need to jump, and I hate to wait on an oppenent unscrewing his if he doesn't have a quick release joint.
Can't you just get a 2 x 4 case that has a separate pocket for a jump butt? I have a 3 x 5, which I think is the right size, but it does have a separate jump butt pocket with its own zipper.
Otherwise, how are you going to carry the jump butt, if you have a playing cue and the BK2 in your case? Even if you had room, with no jump butt pocket, you would need to get a 'foam' dowel cut off to the right size to be under the jump butt going into the sleeve.
Here is the case I ordered for my brother (burgundy at the bottom left):
He likes it, but only plays at home and league once a week, a tournament once or twice a year (He is 65 though):
It is very reasonable, has a jump butt pocket, plus a cell phone pocket, I love the industrial rubber handles, they fit your hand and are comfortable:

With my custom jump bridge, I can regularly jump a full ball from only a ball's width away using the dart stroke... and have, but only a couple of times, jumped a full ball from ~1/2 a ball width away. But most times, I don't use my jump bridge and when I don't, I stroke "regularly" thru whitey when jumping... and jump pretty damn good (if I don't mind saying so myself).
Bottom-line: You don't need to spend $200 on a jump stick to jump reasonably well.
i've tried the frog, the jester, the bunjee, and have the jacoby.
out of all 4 that i have tried, my favorite by far is the jacoby. it comes with a phonelic tip that was very nice and performed very well, but i have since replaced it with a white diamond and it doubled the performance.
although for specifically darting, i very much liked the jester, but once the back handle was added, it did not pick up the ball very well with a pendulum stroke. i've sure this was due to its abnormally long thin tapper. (was like 18" at 11.7mm)

I had one at one time, and it is a very nice jump butt case, and well made.

Once again, Scott, you stick your foot right in your mouth, when you don't know what you're talking about. What you probably MEAN is that YOU have problems with the accuracy of 'light' jump cues. As such I wish you would just include the three words, "in my opinion"! The Steath jump cue is among the lightest jump cues available, and performs admireably in all jump circumstances (also my jumpcue of choice). Ned Morris, who helped develop the Steath AT-1, is a veritable expert with the cue, and I challenge you to come up with a jump that he cannot make! Likewise, John Barton, the inventor of the Bungee Jumper, also has a complete command of his jumpcue. Inaccuracy with almost any jumpcue has more to do with technique than the cue itself!

people tell me that i am a really good jumper, altho i can only really jump with stand alone jump cues. i used a fury j/b for a bit, and while i could do most standard jump shots i've found my lucasi is a whole lot more accurate. also i can control the CB a lot better with stand alone jumpers.
i owned the frog for a while, but honestly i prefer my lucasi over most other jump cues out there.
i tried a pred. air, was very very very impressed with it but i subscribed to the adage if it aint broke dont fix it on this one.
