Jump Stick

As light as possible.

That's one reason that jump/break cues generally don't make the best jumpers. Even after breaking down, the butt section remains too heavy.

Anyone Know the preferred brand to jump over a ball REAL close? 6-8''
First of all, 6 to 8 inches isn't really all that close.

A really good jumper can clear a ball from somewhere around an inch, some disturbingly less than that! I'm fairly competent but not great by any means and generally have no problem with a balls width away, call it 2 inches.

Having said that, the same answer applies. The lightest possible. The cue needs to be light enough to rebound immediately out of the way of the cue ball as it comes up.

I like my Jacoby jumper that weighs in at 7.5 ounces total. Keep that in mind when you're comparing others that claim to be "light"...

What do some of the top 10 pros use.
Some use em to get promotion $$ (remember we're dealing with pool players)... but some don't and prefer to use what works best.
Like Souquet? Or Thorston? Or?

Thx guys appreciate the feedback.

Thorsten said he uses a Predator Air Rush.

I let him try my Alex Brick dymondwood jumper and he nearly jumped over the object ball!

For close jumps, I want it very light with just a little bit of weight at the ferrule. You can easily jump a ball an inch away with the right stroke.

Bill,

Take a good look at the Cuetec Propel & the Predator Air Rush. If you can find them to try and decide for yourself that would be optimal. They are both very good all around jump cues. The jump cues that will allow you to go over a ball at very close range will (imo) not let you stroke jump with any kind of accuracy.

I put a Jacoby blackout shaft on my lomax handle and there’s not a single production jump cue that I’ve tried that does as well. I tried putting a Icebreaker+ tip to neuter it a bit. It didn’t. But it grips better than just the phenolic.

Thx 4 Rail.

And agent, how do these specs compare to Predator Air Rush?

I am not familiar with the Air Rush, never used one and know nothing about it. I had no idea what my Lomax weighed, although I have been using it for years now, saw this thread and weighed it just to add some info. I like my Lomax mainly because I am used to it, performs well for me, but I am sure the same is true if you got used to other brands.

Back in the day we used to use our shaft. I think I was good at about 1/2":ROFLMAO:, so yes as light as possible.
This thread made me think about Smokey. Anyone remember him? I think he was from Austin, don't remember his real name. That guy was super cool and talkative. He was the world's best shaft jumper, or so he claimed. I witnessed it often. He'd regularly jump the stack playing one hole. He was deadly with shaft jumping
