Jumping Cue Ball

The BCA's General Rules of Pocket Billiards state:

"3.27 JUMP SHOTS
Unless otherwise stated in rules for a specific game it is legal to cause the cue ball to rise off the bed of the table by elevating the cue stick on the shot, and forcing the cue ball to rebound from the bed of the table. Any miscue when executing a jump shot is a foul.
"

When I check the BCA's WORLD-STANDARDIZED RULES - 14.1:

There is no mention of jump balls other than balls jumped off the table. While I assumed jumping was allowed in 14.1 like other games, this would seem to indicate strongly that jumping is not allowed in 14.1.

Am I wrong?? I am not a lawyer - so maybe I do not understand what is written.

Are there any other sets of widely accepted rules for 14.1?

If so, how can I find these? (other than "house rules")

As far as BCA rules are concerned, the "General Rules" apply to ALL games and then they have sections that are specific to each game. So by BCA rules, jumping is allowed in straight pool. There is a thread not too far down this board that discusses jumping in straights at great length.

Jumping

I saw the thread where there was disagreement about jumping having a place in straight pool. I did not see where anyone discussed the rules as written. (I might have missed it.)

Thanks.

"Otherwise Stated" means that if it NOT mentioned that you "Can't" jump the cue ball, then you "Can" make a jump shot playing 14.1. Read the rule again, slowly...LOL

When all else fails regarding rules interpretation, refer to Bob Jewett - when it comes to these topics he is definitely the most knowledgable resource we have on this forum.

The rules for jump shots are the same for all pool games. The rules may not be clear on this, but any shot technique permitted at nine ball is permitted at 14.1, etc., including jump shots.
