Jumping

Have you ever noticed that dart jumping takes away from mass'e, I wish jumping was not allowed... I can just imagine how much money has been spent on dart jumping... It took us many years to learn how to properly scoop jump...
Well, it might seem as a scoop but ricochet is the effect I look for. A scoop endangers the cloth. A ricochet does make a small indent and discoloration but no danger of a rip.
I have seen a quite impressive jump/masse. (Sent me to the losers side🤷)
Jump shot is not allowed in snooker. However the most skilled get the white airborne after strike on object ball. This is treated as coincidence. It's used to drop the white into the middle of the reds and is allowed.
My favorite jump in competition is jumping the object ball. When their ball barely has my ball blocked. Just getting the object ball 1/2" off the cloth allowed me to make it over the edge of the blocker. My most memorable was an 8 ball that my opponent and entourage had looked at closely to confirm it was blocked...... just before it went straight in. Part of Mike Massey's show was demonstrate of the shot. His comment was, "the balls are made of shrink-o-flex and if you hit them hard they shrink" enough to fit through the opening that was shown to be too small to pass through. But not to small for just a little hop.🤷

We use two play a game on four tables, I worked in a hall and was responsible for the tables, there were four of us and our game was to jump from one table to another if we hit the ball that was by it's self on the table we put a quarter in a pot. If we made that ball in a pocket we took fifty cents out of pot. At the end of our hour the most hits and pots got the pot. Thats been fifty plus years ago 8' tables ... I never could find a mark... Guy , that was scoop jump...

I know how to jump a ball. Actually pretty decent at it! That's why I called you out, it's definitely harder to learn than you make it out to be. Any dummy can get over a ball, that doesn't mean they can jump.
Any dummy indeed! -

Some pool rooms insist you do that for break shots too. It works for protecting the cloth, but because it's a "spongier" surface it might make the CB jump more than it normally would - just so you're aware.

don't know how well they'd work for jumping, but for breaking, I like the little circles you get from outsville when you buy a template
they are made of the same material as the template, so thinner than a piece of cloth. you can also use them for target practice🎯
