Junior WPC is in progress in Sydney, Australia. 32 boys and 16 girls battling it out for the WPC title. For obvious reasons CC Wu isn't there but plenty of tough junior shooters there. Of course I'm rooting for last year's 8-ball junior European Champion Finland's Johannes Kauhanen who already has seasoned himself in the USA ! Go Johannes ! :cool:

It's too bad he was lost to CC Wu's classmate in the first round.
By the way, where're Jasmin Ouschan's brother and another European Champion Chinahov Ruslan?
 
Rennemar David (Philippines)

I am picking Rennemar David of the Philippines for my dark horse. First time the Philippines is joining this tournament and I believe they have a good chance. Looking at the results, Rennemar won 2 times already against 2 players from Australia. The first one was a 9-0 win and the second a 9-4.

I heard he already plays money games against top players in the Philippines and even won against a WPC player in a money game just held before the recently concluded WPC in Manila. I would not be surprised if a Filipino also won the juniors.
 
Junior WPC - last 8 update - all Americans eliminated

All 4 US players have been eliminated (Austin Murphy, Justin Bergman, Daniel Rakin and Ryan Dunn). The TPE players are going strong, 3 out of the 4 original players are in the last 8. The lone Philippine entry, Rennemar David still in and looking good. I am predicting a player from TPE or Revo David to win this tournament.

Albin Ouschan Jr. is banned, and Ruslan and the other champions who won this EC will compete next year

Keep an eye on Artem Koshovvy from Ukraine! My favouritplayer, he will be a true champion during the next year!!!
 
The finalists are Wu, Yu Lun and Ko, Pin Yi all from Taiwan.
Wu, Yu Lun are already two-time Junior champ.
 
There are probably about a dozen young filipinos who could win this thing. David is not the only one who plays this good.
 
Damn Justin Bergman went 2 and out. wow, tough action...

Just imagine if a bunch of those kids came over here and matched up. Man, USA stakehorses would be shellshock after a while.
 
so this is going to be Wu Luns 3rd junior world championships in a row ??? if and when he wins? Is he ever going to stop being a junior? he seems to be too good to be playing with the other juniors. he should step up to the Mens Worlds which i think he is def capable of doing.

That Kauhanen -dude won the 8-ball junior EPC in 2005 and has ran 170-something in straight pool. Great shooter, kind of expected him to reach the single elimination at least or grab a medal... :cool:

I bet the Wu's have flipped the coin and CC Wu gets to rule the "adult" division and YU Wu stays to rule the junior division. Two amazing shooters...

Please, don't teach 'em straight pool yet... :rolleyes:
 
FYI, Wu Yu Lun has been participating in professional tours where Yang, Wu CC and co. all play in for years. He does compete at professional level already.

darn! johannes plays STRONG. a few months ago in a tournament up at shooters, riverside if my memory serves me right he placed 2nd and beat all kinds of champs.
 
Yu-Lun Wu is an absolute monster, breaks the balls like they owe him money, runs out from everywhere. I would be shocked if he doesn't win.

Yeah, he spent some time in California area playing tournaments etc. Very strong shooter and if he can keep cool and stay focused he can be a world champion for sure. :cool:

Yu-Lun Wu is the favourite in the final and I expect him to win, but I wouldn't count out Ko yet. You just can't underestimate any Taiwanese shooter these days.... :rolleyes:

Unlike Deluna, Wu C.C. and Bustamante, Wu Y.L. is a very thin boy, but he is smart enough to break harder than the most top players by the skill. The importance of all, when Wu Y.L. breaks, the control of the cueball always stops the center of the table - it is difficult especially it isn't soft break.
Compared with Wu Y.L., Deluna's break is powerful but out of control.
