Just a question...is this a dealer forum, one for individuals, or both?

Just notice a lot more dealers lately. Wondering if this is just free advertising for them all and what others think of it. Personally I've always thought you should help sponser a site you are actively using as a advertisment for your business. But thats just my opinion and wondering what other folks opinions are as we all have one right or wrong.

Not trying to say the dealers aren't welcome mind you, just wondering why more don't pay sponser fees really.

Dealers should sponsor.... or be banned. I'm tired of seeing the same crap for McDermotts, "hundreds of schons", and full splice blanks/molavia/moori crap for sale...

Rather sick of all these "dealers" flocking here from Ebay lately.

Me too but does the forum have specific rules about commerical enterprises, etc?

I posted something on that just the other day.

It is getting to where it is pretty much like sifting though e-mail without a spam filter here in the wanted/for sale forum.

I say "Hang 'em!"...

I know if I ever wanted a production cue (doubtful) I would pay a bit more and buy it from an AZ contributor before I would (I never would) get it from a spamming troll from Flea Bay.

I agree, but;

There are different levels of dealers. Many of the ones on Az sell custom cues and frequently do it because they love the cues/game. They contribute in many of the forums. I appreciate their expertise in questions regarding cues. On the otherhand, many, and getting more, are just here to advertise their site, and "deals" on production s**t. I think a good policy would be that no one could link or refer people to their commercial site. Advertise an item(s) for sale or wanted, period. I think we already know the reputable dealers on the forum, and how to get ahold of them.

I agree, unless of course the dealer also adds to the content of the site with other info and posts to other threads (and I don't mean in a pool slut kinda way). If a person comes here and reads the forum and adds valuable info then they are doing there part as a member, the trouble is most of these (so called) dealers have nothing to add but spam and that should be dealt with. Worse then the one’s who just spam us are the ones who make false screen names and carry on conversations with themselves.

I like dealers

They make a living making sure you get what you want at a very fair price. Many of us wish we never have to pay a dealers premium. But without dealers alot of the best just might not be in business. They sacrafice alot and have enormous cost associated with making a living. I buy lots of cues for me! When I see something else I like I sell one or two cues to get it. I try not to lose but if I do big deal.
What do you mean? I actually spend money for cues then say later I think I want to try another lets say Scruggs or Searing or South West just because I can so I sell something I have laying around gathering dust!

If poolsticks ate we all would be in bad shape!!

In a year I might go through a lot of cues but man for alot of us this sight allows us to flip cues all over and with few worries unlike Ebay and paypal.

Most of us just really appreciate a sweet cue.
PRECIOUS!!

And if you take the time to notice many dealers offer discounts to us members.
This is after all a public foroum.

While I realize its a give and take relationship, but why would you (edit:collective you, not Nick, thought it was obvious sorry that it wasn't) constantly tell us about your multitude of cues for sale at your ebay store? There are dealers on here that contribute constantly to other areas of the forum, and then there are those that just use this section to make a living. I love having a place to sell a cue or two when I want without the hassle of ebay. If its a part time job, doing it because I love cues then more than likely I'm posting all over this forum about cues and pool in general. That to me is a member that happens to sell cues.

Just think that if I was doing it for a full time living, using this as a primary advertising site for my sales, I would pay for a banner. Help keep this rather large web site going, both for the good of the site and my own living selling cues here. As I've said, thats just my good for nothing opinion. Was curious what the responses would be and if I was way off base in thinking that way. Know other sites with for sale boards, they put posts for everyone in the order of paying members, sponsers, everyone else. Here we are lucky in that membership is free, this board can be used by anyone at anytime with the only restriction that it must be pool related. A community of sorts has been created on the server(s) that host this board, by people that love the game of pool.

you seem to be deadon

Here´s what I think. For me the problem is where do you draw the line. I´ve been starting to buy (here) and sell (elsewhere) a little myself. I´m talking about production cues mind you. I sell them through a number of different forums here in Europe. Now if the mod of one of those forums told me I had to pay (let´s say 500 bucks) to keep posting my adds, I´d have to stop doing it. Because before I earn 500$ on production cues, I´d have to sell 20 or so before I even had the 500. So I say, give them a little room. But I do agree with most here, as long as say 80% of your posts are contributions to the forums, placing adds is ok with me.

I feel they should help sponsor the site.

It is getting bad about stores trying to push their stuff in the for sale area but I think they soon get the message that it is fruitless.

They should follow the examples set by the professionals. Example: Layani sponsors the site, and does contribute to the forums occassionally. Have you ever seen him push any of his cues. You never see him put one of his cues in the for sale area.

Others will share an example of their work or offer a great deal on one of their own products but they are not pushing discounted production merchandise.

Hope you don't mean me

Well there former Ebay customer, I sure hope you don't mean me.:D :D

True I do try to keep some of production cues that I offer for sale on Ebay posted here also. I do so because I can offer them to you forum guys at a better price without ebay fees involved.
I also offer them because there are many readers of this former that are just looking for a good deal on a production cues for themselves or their fellow local league players. They never have any thoughts of buying a custom or collector cue. They just want something better than what Walmart offers. Please all remember we are all into this game at different levels. Please try to refrain from being Pool Cue Snobs. :D ;)

No worries Jeff, my comment wasn't directed anywhere towards you.:)
I was thinking more of the guys that have 7 posts on the front page trying to sell 7 different Schons, McDermotts etc.
I'm with Jimbo, at least contribute to threads once in awhile, not just when it benefits yourself.

Anytime you are ready Dave.

Dave and I have done a couple of deals. I made a little spare change. I am sure he made some and there are some poolplayers in The Netherlands happy with their new cue. What's the harm. Everybody has to start somewhere. Not all readers use custom
Anyway Guys, Leagues are starting soon. Any of you guys want to invest a couple hundred for 4 ot 5 cues to resell to your locals Please PM me.
If I start getting rich giving these deals I will be happy to kick down. But then of course I would have to raise my prices.

As far as I know Nick no one was talking about you buying or selling anything, or about you personally at all. Maybe I missed part of the thread and over looked something.

Howdy,
I don't see any problem with the current "Wanted/For Sale", I mean that's the catagory, unless there are rules on this forum that prohibit dealer sales. Now if Az decides to add an additional catagory "Dealers Wanted/For Sale" and maybe even charge a fee or not that would be fine that would be up to AZ.
I am not a dealer and don't mind a guy trying to make a living buying and selling cues.

I purchased some cases from Martin, a 314 shaft from Chenz, and a J&J cue from Chris. I thought this was a public forum for buying and selling cues. I have also bought multiple items from Rackem on Ebay and have sent many customers his way, because of his great pricing and service.
