Just announced--johnny vs ignacio!

Yeah, it is a lot better to have your opponent dog a shot and bury you behind a ball. That way he can be rewarded with ball in hand if you can`t get the hit. Pros should not be rewarded when they miss.

Yeah, by all means a player shouldn't be allowed to shoot a legal shot and miss

The opponent is being rewarded enough by just getting back to the table. There is a reason this stupid rule is seldom used. But good for Johnny, good to see he was finally able to get someone to match up in his Room.

Ya know, I hope it doesn't get streamed! I'm rooting for JA and that's it!

All this BS with the stream and money and what's in the middle and who's on first and he said yes but she said why and all the stupid $hit that goes with it!

This whole technology thing sucks!

A stream would be great!
What about call shot with a push. Only the option to pass is not taking the luck out,
it's just throwing the bad luck back on the other player.

Couldn't say it better myself. I'm sure these guys will still run racks
and the stream will be entertaining. But this rule doesn't guarantee the best man wins.

I can be playing position with no intention of trying to hook anyone,
it rattles and goes somewhere funny, couldn't predict it...
Now I gotta kick because the other guy doesn't like it.

But why should he get the power to decide whether he wants to shoot or pass?
Just because he wasn't the guy who screwed up by missing the shot?

OK, but the fact that he's in the chair means he screwed up at SOME point.

He sees it as "I don't deserve a penalty for the shooter's miss"...
well, that doesn't mean he deserves a special reward for it either, and the option
is definitely a reward above and beyond what a player normally gets in 10b.

If he wants to force me to kick and get ball in hand, he should do something
good to earn that, not just have it handed to him because it's now his turn.

When I see 2 players exercise their passback option regularly,
there's no feeling that it's more fair, it just feels like the shooter is penalized
for trying anything challenging instead of being ultra conservative
and calling safe every time he's only 50% to make a ball.

I like Ignacio's game a lot, he's one of my favorites to watch. I like 10 ball with 9 ball rules. The issue with 9 ball wasn't that guys were constantly lucking balls in, the problem was pattern racking and the break. 10 ball w/ 9 ball rules seems fine too me.

Yes, the huge part of the game taken away is the luck.

Pool is not a game of perfect information. Luck is always involved, no matter how much you try to eliminate it. I believe there needs to be a balance between the opportunities for luck to occur and how exciting the game is. This 10 ball rule can definitely make players scared to shoot, and that's just not all that much fun.

Also, you can always take the statistical approach and just realize that the rolls always even out in the long run.

I've watched a few streams with these rules. I dont care for it at all.

I think Ignacio wins 25-21.

Agreed..This has to be the worst set of rules ever played by two high caliber players! :( The rules of 9/10 ball, were already ruined, with the inception of Texas Express!..There is no way to eliminate the luck factor, in ANY game played with round balls!

"Ball in hand, anywhere on the table" was supposed to speed the game up..Instead, it slowed it down, and made it almost unwatchable for pool purists, who enjoy shot making, and position play!..The only thing that has been 'eliminated', is the excitement, and enjoyment of the spectators! ..There was nothing wrong with the old 2shot foul rules, before TE..Whats next.."If you miss, you lose"?

I prefer called shot when gambling...it's just torture losing when guys luck in a ball or luck you safe.

Johnny won't gamble on slop pool. I expect him to win this one.

I heard not even Chuck Norris will play JA in his own crib

CueenvySir have you read any of the other opinions? Your logic is very questionable at best! :sorry:

PS..Do you really feel your opponent gets all the good rolls?...Not a winning attitude at all!

Finally some pool worth watching, without the bs luck slop crap.
Take away the sawed off cue for this kind of match also.
I won't play slop 9ball or 10 ball and rarely watch it anymore.

So you don't watch Efren or Busty or SVB or Dennis O or Ko Pin or any of the thousands of great players and matches because their lucky when they play, not good?

It's unfortunate to have bs slop luck crap absolutely ruin an otherwise good match. So unfortunate. Oh, the word their was used incorrectly in the first statement above.

Good

We have 2 very good players playing a good race for a good sum of money. What's not to like? What ever the rules are, it is something they both agreed on and no matter what the game or rules some will complain.

I think Jeff has a big set of balls to come to Johnny A's room on his table and play even. I believe he has the worst of it. Johnnyt

Ignacio just finished 4th at DCC 9b. I think he'll be able to hold his own vs Johnny.

What, you think he has the best of it? I'm not selling Johnny short because of his age. Johnny don't take many bad bets...but we'll see soon enough. Johnnyt

I disagree. 10 ball with the option is the best game for the pros to play, by far. There is very, very little luck in that game. Don`t talk to me about the death of the 2 way shot, play one or the other. I have loved this game since the first time i saw it used at Hopkins` Billiard Expo years ago. I have never seen the problem with taking the luck out of the game at the pro level.

You must not watch sports.
