If your running 2 racks "consecutively" every night then you sound like a medium to high "B" / low "A" to me.. Running 4 racks consecutively is solid freakin A though.. LOL

4 racks consecutively is my best in both games, big tables and little tables, done it on both. I've never been able to get past that number though, my head gets in the way... I start getting really proud of myself or something.

The last time was about 2 months ago on a bar table that I hated, it was slow as hell, but all of a sudden, I'd run 4 racks. The guy I was playing with is the one that told me. Then of course I come up empty on the next rack. One of the racks had a 9 ball combination somewhere in the middle of the rack though, I'm still counting it as 4 in a row. The time before that was so far back that I can't remember, maybe 4-5 months.

I think ratings fluctuate quite a bit. According to the rating system I posted in the other thread I'd say I'm a B about 65% of the time. An A 10% of the time and a C 25% of the time. LOL

That's a good way to look at it. I wish there was some nationally recognized EASY way to keep track of stats that came along with a rating system. I keep track of runs (break and runs and runs from the other player's break when they scratch or come up empty) in tournaments. Too hard to do when you're gambling.

This is a system?

I don't know how to correlate to A thru D, but ...
I'm a 6 in both 8-ball and 9-ball in the APA. And my winning average in the 2 non-handicapped leagues I play in is .650. Does that correlate to a 'C'? Maybe, certainly NOT a 'B'.

Myself, an APA SL5, I would be like a D+.

I'm a 6, and I'd guess I'm probably a C or C+ player, but I'm on my way up!

I rate myself as a low B. I was a decent 7 in APA and TAP doing well against all but the strong 7's in the area.

Uh-huh. So, I'm an APA 5. Probably a B per Egg, a C or C+ per Zeeder, a C or C- according to Andrew, or a D+ per Gregg. That pretty much pins it down to somewhere between a D+ and a B.

I have no idea what the "standard" or "definition" is for A, B, C, or D, but it appears to me that nobody else has much of a clue, either!

Handicap rankings

In a race to 7, 9 ball.

D- Player
-will not run a rack
-average run is about 3 balls
-with ball in hand, will get out from the 7, one out of 3 times
-rarely plays a successful safe

C-Player
-will probably run one rack, but usually not more than one
-avg. run is 3 to 5 balls
-with ball in hand, will get out from the 7, two out of 3 times
-mixed results when playing safe
-inning ends due to botched position, missed shot or attempting a
safe.

B-Player
-Able to run 1 to 3 racks
-avg. run is 5-7 balls
-with ball in hand will get out form the 5, 2 out of 3 times
-most of the time a "B" player will play a "safety" which maybe hit
easily 2 out of 3 times
-a typical inning will end with a missed shot, a fair safety, or a
won game

A-Player
-will string 2 to 3 racks
-avg. ball run, 7-9
-with ball in hand, will be out from the 3 ball, 2 out of 3 times
-typical inning will end with a well executed safety or a win.

OPEN-Players
-average 8+ balls
-string racks together more than once in a match
-is a threat to run out from every ball, from every position, every
inning
-typical inning will end in excellent safety or win.

I'm An F

I think I would rate about an F being an APA SL3.......That's right I haven't got much of a game.....but when I string two or three together ....... loook out....

I am from the Northeast Massachusetts area. I play in the APA and am a 7 in 8-ball and a 9 in 9-ball. My win percentage is about 80-90%. I think I am one of the strongest shooters in my league operator's league. I would consider myself a solid B player. I have run 4 racks of 8 ball and 4 racks of 9. I frequently run 2 racks of 9. When my game is "on", I usually leave the table with a win or a fairly well executed safety. I think I can play like an A sometimes and a C sometimes, but settle out as a B. From my experience, most 5's in the APA are borderline D/C players. I've seen a few 5's that play like strong C's, but not really B's. 7's range from C's to A's. There are really only one or two players in my league that I would consider legitimate A players, and these people tend to dominate the league.

Thanks JR! This makes it much clearer, at least if you play 9-ball. I would be a C then, and I'll take the Orange Crush please!:p

I do not have a Rating, and do not Play in Tournments so that is something that is not important too me.

In the area where I live they have a 4-10 Rating System, (4) BAD-LOW (10) PRO-HIGH
