I have been getting pool lessons now for over a year and as I get further along part of that has started to include watching instructional videos from professional pool players. Comparing different styles, advice, etc. So far that has included the DVDs they sell, a couple of books and in some cases just videos on YouTube.

However, the videos I have found the most interesting lately are Max Eberle's run out videos. Yes, I know he calls them "coaching" videos but he's basically just breaking and running out while he talks in one big stream of consciousness.

Examples:
Max Eberle 9-ball Coaching #1
Max Eberle 9-ball Coaching #2

And yes, I ordered his book as a result of watching these.

Anyway, if anyone is considering making some instructional videos and isn't sure where to start I think the format Max is using is pretty useful. It gives beginners like myself some idea about what is going on in the mind of an experienced player as they read the table, make shot selections and adjust when the shots don't go as planned.

For the record, I have never met Max. I just thought the videos deserved a plug and feel like it would be nice if more experienced players did that kind of thing.

Hey Max, how's it going on this fine Tuesday?

Yeah, I figured that would happen. I am really not Max and I really haven't met him.

I'm honestly hoping other people do "run out" videos like that because I really liked that format as opposed to teaching a setup shot like so many instructional videos.

Or, if there are other videos on YouTube like those I'd appreciate if if people posted them to this thread so I could check them out.

Flop. Once upon a time, there was a member that got chased away.

His name was Tor Lowry. You can find him on Face Book under his name or Zero X Billiards.

Utube under Zero X.

He has a great video set out for approx $20. He simplified both Banking and Kicking using the Diamond System. No more having to carry a calculator in your case.

You can link to many great individual videos from either his FB page or UTube.

I believe that you will find them most helpful and interesting. He speaks very clearly, which makes it very easy to follow.

I have watched Tor's video YouTube already but I haven't ordered the video set yet. I need to do that though. You're the second person to give me a positive review on that.

Full disclosure: I met Max for 5 minutes at Best Billiards in Las Vegas. Nice guy and took the time to say hello even though he was playing a money match at the time.

I've enjoying Max's "coaching" youtube videos...but more importantly, they are the only time my pool-playing friends have shown any interest in watching a pro. It's because he explained how he analyzed the layout, planned his run-out and then executed it.

I've had these same friends over to watch pro pool matches. They weren't interested in the least. They'd rather kibbitz among themselves and eat corned beef sandwiches. But Max presented pool in a way that held their interest.

+1 for Tor Lowery's instructional videos. Probably the best instructional purchase I've made. Next step is some private lessons but that won't happen until summer at the earliest.
