Well, not just, but it seems all this time I was using it wrong.

2 guys were playing near me. One explained to the other that he needs to use chalk more. The reponse was "Oh, I thought you only had to use it once you played with your cue for a while, and this one is still pretty new." His answer to that was "No, you use it to season the table so it plays better, so you want to use it all the time."

I think this takes the cake as far as wrong info put out by someone trying to teach.

By "season the table" he must mean "dirty the table." Someone should alert the billiard cloth cleaning industry that they're of no use anymore! :p

I think this is what made me think of the chalk comment. Although what the guy said does have some grain of truth in it. He did said to watch out what the player looked for in a cue, which is correct. I always look at the tip first, then check for straightness. A banger will just grab a stick and roll it on a table like he's tossing a hooker on the bed.
