Just played Johnny Archer - he's good!!! Long

When was it?

When was it that Johny ran 150 and out on Nick Varner? 1992? A pitty not to see him play more of the game. Willie, consider yourself lucky.

Lewdo,
I'm pretty sure Johnny also played in the last big NYC straight pool tourney, I think 2000, and I think Johnny may have had 2, 150's that I've heard of (I'm not sure if both were in the same tourney - I just heard about them from the Accu-Stats commentators). SJM knows all of these type of details, perhaps he will favor us with a reply.

P.S. - "lucky" is a pathetically inadequate description of how I feel after the last 3 weeks of straight pool (Danny D., Johnny Archer, and 2 other very special pro's). It's like shooting baskets with Michael Jordan, except much better. Golf with Arnold Palmer might be close.

Willie, you're living a poolplayer's dream.

I believe, but I'm not sure of it, that Johnny ran a 150 and out in the 1992 14.1 Championships and also ran a 150 and out in a 14.1 tournament that he won not too long after that, which I think took place in Ohio. Also, I recall he ran 169 in a practice match at the Amsterdam Billiard Club in 1999.

Oh, one last thing, willie. Did you ever get your hands on the tape in which Rempe explains how to run 100? If not, find a way, because you will absolutely love it.

SJM,
My dreams were never this good!!

Yes, I have the Rempe tape. I lent it to our mutual friend last year and still haven't gotten it back (but there has been lots of confusion with their move and our move into a new home). I'll work up the courage to ask for it back pretty soon. Problem is, that tape makes it sound fairly simple (as Rempe says, when you are practicing straight pool regularly, "you should just rain 100's"). I have not quite found it that easy (still haven't run 50 in competition).
