Matching up, driving to tourneys only to find out bad news, No local action unless giving up the nuts, etc. , etc. I just am pooled out. Anyone else experience this? If so, do you take time off? Drive farther from home? Talk to me before I get on a belltower.

Many people have a dream someday Pool will be BIG like NASCAR, with 250K Purses up for grabs for the Pros, and I think this will trickle down to the "C" Players also.

Frame of mind is the key, IMO

Yes, I have felt that way before. I just take a break. Usually 2 weeks will do the trick. After 2 weeks, Im chomping at the bit to get on a table. And usually, I play stronger because I am in a good frame of mind. I WANT to play. The mind can be your biggest enemy or your best friend. All depends on you, IMO.
Hope you find the answer to get the most productivity out of your game.
For me, If I stay in a positive mindset, I feel like I can conquer the world.:D
Good Luck. :)

I would go out and find a local bar that hosts a pool league. Go there on league night and see who everyone "worships". Hustle the s**t out of him, count his money on your way home, and everything will be right in the world of pool again:D.

That's what I did.

OOOhhh, I like that. Problem is around here, everyone knows everyone. Even in the bars.

The road is actually dull & boring !

95% of being on the road is actually as dull & boring as watching paint dry...The only real excitement is when your patience..which also means time invested...usually weeks or longer in 1 spot finally pays dividends...I had a different image in my mind till I made my 1st journey..but the living out a suitcase...hanging in dives...having to do laundry at laundry mats..just seems like you are just always waiting...I guess it can be simular to deer hunting as You are just like in the stand waiting for that monster buck that you know is out there..just hasn't visited your food plot yet so you settle for shooting does & call bucks just not to come back home empty handed...I did the road thing for over 10 years & don't get me wrong..Got some great stories & had my share of fun..made some good scores...but don't think i would do it again...especially now that the internet can be such a powerful knock...I love pool as much as the next guy but what it takes to grind the road day end & day out does take alot out of you & I tip my hat to those that still have it in them to do it..I just think it would have been more glamorous in the days of old...Now if you get a name the only action you get is trying to outrun da nuts...sometimes you can...but the NUTS is just like the house...You play long enuf & da house will always get da money...

I get burned out sometimes especially if i've practiced hard trying to get ready to play a tournament or a big match and then things don't work out the way I wanted them to. It's easy to say i'm going to take a break for a while and it's funny because I usually play better after i've laid off playing for a week or two.

Before we have to coax you in off of the tower, I think every good "money player" goes through what you are experiencing.

You are too good to play most people even-up, and it gets old giving out a ton a weight all the time.

I hear that a lot, but there are always players who want to gamble, so just lay back a little until someone comes to you looking for action.
At your speed you will still have to give up something, maybe not as much if they come to you.
It seems like if you have the bankroll and someone wants to gamble, they will play.
You can always adjust up or down.

Someone mentioned take a break for a couple of weeks. Well, I've been on a break for a couple of years. Can't stand tournaments, can't play for funsies, can't practice by myself for more than 15 minutes. If I can't get any action I don't want to play. Unfortunately, now that I am not playing I'm fairly confident I can't hit the end rail. But it's all good, I think I pretty much got as good as a working man can get at this game, or close to it.

Troy, obviously you know this but I think overlooked...the other type of action out there is the challenge match. The problem with the challenge match is the participants might ruin their action in other spots.

no tourneys, no funsies, no practice, only ACTION....doesn't sound like a pool problem at all.

Don't get me wrong Senor...I love a good pool match & still stake a game from time to time...was just talking bout the day to day grind can wear on a person...That's why I can understand why a great player like Keith is playing mostly online poker....It's a quick fix for us action junkies..But for someone that has been there & done that & has many T-shirts to prove it...It can be difficult to get motivated even like his action challenge thing with Danny...most good to great players today have to kinda follow some kind of tournment trail & hope to get a lil action in between without getting into too many bad games trying to outrun the nuts..JMHO

nice

How about some for us "D" players?

I have pretty much wound up in the same position as you. In the past, I have taken a break. Now that would be somewheres between 2 weeks and a month. However, this last time I got burnt out and took a break, I have not had the passion to return. it has been almost two years now. :( I used to play 6 days a week for hours at a time and loved it, couldn't get enough. Now I won't even bother to think about opening my case. I have sold half of my pool stick collection and still have hope that my pool drive will return so I can go back to playing in leagues, tournaments or at least gambling again.

I truly hope you find your passion and don't give up the game as I have. So maybe take a little time off and enjoy some other things, and sooner or later you'll probably crave being at the table again.
