Sooo, after not really being around the game for a while, its almost time for a new tip.

I was using the old moori hard tips, then switched to a sniper. I'm thinking that was a hard as well.

So, whats comparable in Kamui, medium or hard, brown or black?

I played with the original Talisman hards, then played with the Sniper hards for about 8 years. I recently switched to Kamui Black Mediums and find them comparable and like them.

I had always played with hard tips all my life. A few years back I heard a couple of pros talking about tips and they had converted to the black Kamui super soft. I tried one and the hardness came around to what I liked after playing with it for a couple weeks.

I tried the medium for about 2 years and liked them, liked them quiet well--I tried the soft and I won't ever look back--

Love the blacks.

I actually just switched from 10+ years using Moori hard to Kamui Black Medium (on the same shaft). I've only had the Kamui about three weeks. It still feels just a touch softer right now, but my last Moori was very thin, so I think the hardness will end up being roughly equal after a few more weeks.

I'm not a Kamui Black fan .. I find it a bit spring-ish and it seems like it glaze over fairly easy. For a Kamui tip, I prefer the brown now which is more similar to old Moori.

So, in this case, I went black and then went back!!!

The old moori hard = kamui black medium. Imo.

You could be spot on. Never tried moori hard though. I had a moori medium, switched to Kaumi black medium, and the kamui black is definitely harder than the moori medium.

I like the kamui black medium...seems to grip the cue ball well yet doesn't mushroom. At least so far.

I'm surprised you considered the sniper a hard tip. Personally, I find them quite soft. A Kamui black medium is certainly quite harder than the sniper. Hope that helps.

I'm a soft tip player, Elk Master & Brunswick Blue Diamond. I got an OB classic with a Kamui Black Super Soft. At frist it was so soft that it was 'sticky'. The Cue Ball seemed to stick to it. It was suggested that I take a few layers off & it would play into 'shape' I did & it did. It now plays very near my old preferences. So the super soft sort of equals a soft IMO.

Hope this helps.

Try a Med. Ultraskin. These are great tips and play right with the Kamui for 1/3 the price. If you don't like the Ultraskin, you can buy the 25.00 Kamui and only be out a few bucks.

I bought a bunch of these for my local pool repair guy and he has customers that now request the Ultraskin over the Kamui. Not because of the huge price difference, but, because they are just better for them.
