Kamui like a rock

I have several people come up to me at the pool hall and ask if I thought their tip was ok...

They say that it is a Kamui and it seems hard. The tips are hard, so hard I could not scuff it with my sand paper scuffer. They were hard like a stone..... A lot of tips do compress over time but I have never seen anything like this....

Has anyone else experienced this?????

Who installed them ?
B/c Kamui is a premium tip, cheap knock-offs are all over the place.
I install them for local players and the last months . Even on one player who scuffs his tips often b/c he plays for big money.
Kamui S are more on the medium H side . The medium is on the hard side .

You can spot fake Kamuis easily when installing. The sides do not ribbon like the real Kamui. Also, the layers are not very uniform.

Just a wild guess, but could it be the tip has been exposed to some extreme weather conditions, that has dried the tip out?

The last few I put on were very hard bought from a reputable seller(never had a fake or bad tip) called to find out what's going on and was told that kamui changed their hardness rating dropped one and added one. So now ss is old soft, soft is old med, med is old hard and hard is now extra hard. True,I dunno but sounds like it from my experience from last few bought and put on......

I know they are moisture resistant so the environmental conditions shouldn't be a factor. I have a regular customer that was using Kamui but his repair guy moved so he comes to me now. I don't carry kamui due to the high pricing thing, so I had him try the Ultra Skins. He loves them and has switched. His statement to me is that the Kamuis were turning to a rock about a month after install and he was tired of paying $$ just to have to replace it so soon.
