Kamui tip questions

I am thinking about changing to a Kamui tip, has anybody tried them? What are your opinions, should I use soft, medium soft, medium or hard? I have never tried them before. I am class 6 BCA shooter. Thanks in advance for your advice.
 
I'm putting on a Black Soft tonight... I'll report back tomorrow. ;) I know the black line is a little harder than the regular line; and most people report they're a little harder in general.

I'm coming from a Talisman (med), so I'm hoping this is just a tad softer, but if it's the same, i'll be happy with that too.

I think you will be very pleased going from a Talisman M to a Kamui Black S.

I tried the SS and just didn't like it. The KB soft has a great feel to it, looks great on your cue and plays fantastic. I am actually a Sniper fan, but if those tips ever go down in quality I will definitely go with the soft KB.
 
I think the OP is asking about Kamui, or Kamui II tips. I don't have any experience with em, but I've heard of ppl who swear by em.

If you're interested in the Kamui Black tips I can tell you that they play a degree/half degree harder than they represent. In other words a SS is soft, Soft is medium, Medium is hard and so on and so forth. I will say that they hold chalk great, shape great and grip the CB exceptionally well.
 
I WAS a Moori Medium guy for a few years but wasn't too happy the past year or so. They seemed to get hard, so I switched to a Kamui in May and fell in love with it. I went with the Medium-Soft and am very happy.

I would love to hit with a Soft once to see how I like it, but for now I'm good.

man i loved my talisman med tips. i'd still have one on my cue but they keep falling apart when i instal them.
 
Check out the Kamui website, they just released new versions of the Kamui II and Black. The new Kamui regular ( brown ) does not come in Medium Soft. I was going to order a medium soft and a soft Black but these newer versions may have changed some?
 
I switched to Kamui black soft from a moori medium and I love it.
It just plays more consistent.
 
I was wondering as well. I play with a Moori Soft and live by them even though they do mushroom alot, but not much. But its enough to bother my sight when I shoot.

If anyone has shot with a Moori Soft and Kamui Black SS I'd love to hear how they compare. I'd like to have something that would hold up and not mushroom, but still have the soft hit to it.
 
Well, after playing with it for about 5 hours last night, my new black soft tip feels pretty similar to my talisman. I mean, it's obviously not a "soft" tip. It does seem to grip the CB pretty well though.

Playing one-pocket, I get left on the rail quite a bit; which is where I tend to miscue the most. it only happened once, because I took i jerked my arm - but whenever i stroked properly, i got a good hit - with good spin.

Playing 9-ball, the ball seemed to draw a little easier, spin off the rails a little simpler, etc... So far, I like it. :) Tonight, I'll get try it with bar-box 8-ball. *sigh*
 
I tried the Kamui II medium and the Kamui Black medium. At first I loved them, I thought I had found the greatest tip ever! But......after a few weeks of playing, I noticed I was miscuing more and more. I thought it was me, but after looking at the tip after a miscue, I realized the tip was just slipping off the cue ball. I posted a thread about this a while back, and I was not alone with this problem. I guess if you dont mind sanding your tip every time you play, then go for it, but I prefer a little lower maintenence tip. Ive switched to a milk dud made by a guy right here on AZ and (knock on wood) its the best playing tip Ive ever used. Its hard as hell, but it really grabs the ball, miscues are almost non-existant. Just my opinion on it all. Good luck to ya man!

I play with a Black SS on a Dominiak D2 shaft and I think the combo is the nuts. I will not play with a different tip. That said....I also have a cue with an OB-1 shaft and the same tip and do not like that combo. I have not found out if it is the shaft or the combo because I need to replace the tip with something else. But again...the Black SS is the only way to go for me.
 
I've heard some really good things about the new Soft Brown tip, but have not tried them yet.

Has anybody tried one that can compare it to a Black Soft???

I just Kamui mediums put my J. Pech and Joss. One has a black the other has has a brown. The brown is a bit stiffer. But quite an improvement over whatever was on them before though.
