Kamui Tips

Hello,

Would like to get an opinion on the Kamui medium tip from other players. I bought some of these tips when the Moori mediums were running low and had a few of the loyal Moori players try them out. Out of five people two of them hated the tip and went back to the Moori. These five people play pool ten hours or more per week. All agree the new Moori's are not as good as the older version. Any other opinions would be appreciated. Thank you.

I love Kamuis

The tips are the nuts. I played with a moori before and would never go back to one. The only difference I've noticed is the Kamui may not last as long.

Just like most things that are pool equipment related, the hit of Kamui tips is extremely subjective. However, with that being said, I can't imagine anyone "hating" this tip. It may not be their cup of tea, but "hated it" is over the top in my opinion.

Just as in your small survey, most will at least like them if not, love the hit. When I hear that someone hates a Sniper, Kamui, Moori, or any other high end tip, it's not always, but often a smoke screen because of the price.

Thats okay though. There are many things I can't justify paying for. Maybe I should start hating them! ;)

The Kamui M is a little harder than a moori med. Go MS on the Kamui and that is a hair softer than a moori m the Kamui s is a spin dog. These tips are great imo...

I went to Kamui tips about 6 or 8 months ago, will never go back...

I use the Medium.

i really didn't care for them. i don't think i'll ever put one on one of my shafts again. couldn't stop miscueing with the damn thing

Kamui or Moori

Well, I don't have an answer, but another question. I cannot find a good cue repair person who has any Kamui hard tips, so I am about to settle for Moori hard tips...anyone have an opinion or perspective on the differences?

Not much difference with the "hards" of each of these. Kamui's self-claim to fame is that they impart more spin and hold chalk better. I can't see you going wrong with either when it comes to the hard. Kamui may also, not shroom as much as some Mooris do.

Thanks, Gene. I am going to go ahead with the Moori hard for now. The great thing about tips is that you can change them!

I was a diehard Moori M's fan for many years..until they began to change. The last Moori M I had put on, I just about hated...the difference was like night and day.

A little over a year ago now, I got turned onto a Wizard tip...it happened to be installed on a cue I had purchased. It was love at first hit!! Without a doubt, THE closest in overall performance and upkeep as the Moori's of old...hold their shape, do not mushroom, and will hold chalk 'for days'...they also last a long time. All this for a tip that retails roughly for $7.00 ea...what more could one ask for?!

I have since had them installed on my current player's shafts...just love them!! While my local maker carries them, I am still considering picking up some extras of my own, in case they go the way of the old Moori's.

I've only installed around 50 or so of the Kamui tips and most of them have been the med. The feedback has been a little mixed. Many like them but 4 or 5 didn't like them at all. It may have been the price that turned them off. All pool players are not fanatical with pool as some on here and the cost of a tip shocks some. I've heard of a number of people expounding on the Wizard tip. I like hard tips and a couple years ago I ordered 15 or so of the Wizard hard tips. I installed one on my cue and I have to say that I mis-cued quite a bit with it. I then got a box of the medium and sold them at a discount to see how people liked them. One fellow said that he really liked them and he had some of his friends using them also. From what I understand, this player, although working in a pool room, has not been playing for long so probably doesn't have the experience from using a number of different tips. In fact, he now uses a Sniper so I don't really know if it was the tip itself or the discounted price that he liked. What is the hardness of the Wizard that everyone is using at the moment? Med or hard? I have pushed Talisman tips for years as I feel that the hard Talisman is the best tip, for playability, on the market, however, they have their drawbacks in the delaminating department. If I could find a tip that plays like a Talisman hard, holds it's shape like a Talisman hard, never mushrooms like a Talisman hard, be low priced like a Talisman hard but would not delaminate like a Talisman hard - then I would be in hog heaven. The medium Wizard may fill this void. What say you all?

Dick...I have been using the Wizard M's myself. Perhaps Wizard has changed their tips since when you last tried them...I do not know. I know that Marcus (FAST_N_LOOSE) is selling them, and I believe did sell some of the H's recently. Perhaps you could shoot him a PM and see what his opinion is...as I would suspect he has had experience with both the M's and the H's.
