Kamui

Depends on who you ask.
Tips are super subjective, and people have a habit of believing some weird stuff about them.
Manufacturers make some pretty interesting claims about them as well.
They're both multiple layers of pigskin.
Kamui says the Athlete tips use layers of different hardness, with soft material near the contact area and harder material lower in the tip.

Sounds about right. I've been out of the loop for a minute and wasn't sure. I've always been a Kamui black fan so I'll stick with those. Thanks guys.

I found the Kamui Brown tips seemed harder than Kamui Black Clear.
I switched over a decade ago to Kamui Black Clear Soft & have no regrets.

Kamui Black glaze like hell and I have no idea about Athelete.
It’s why I switched to Kamui Black Clear version. I was using Kamui Black medium that kept glazing.
Shooter08 recommended trying Black Clear soft over a decade ago and it’s never happened again.

The amount of people that i see in pool halls that don't do basic tip maintenance is amazing. The amount of Mushroomed tips, no layers left, cracked ferrels is amazing. I touch up my tip pretty much every session. I make sure my tip is the perfect shape and it's properly burnished. This is the part that touches the ball and SHOULD be perfect.

I loved that. As a cue repairman kept me busy. But I understand your point.

What is the difference between Kamui black and Kamui Athlete tips?
I'm not sure, but please, please don't post about this being the solution to a certain posters problem with runnable racks. Did you have the new athlete tip on there? You won't get those breakouts with Kamui Black.

Try maintaining your tips. I've been using them for four year and not once have i ever had this glazing over people talk about
I'd rather maintain my tip at the start of a session, not after every couple racks. It's ok to like Kamui, but they require more maintenance than any other tip I've used... and other tips have the same performance with less maintenance so I don't know why I would buy another one.

What would you suggest?
