I just surfed the WPBA website and noticed that Karen seems to have NO sponsors!! I also checked her website and see none listed there either. The WPBA rankings show all the top 16 current players have sponsors with the exception of Karen.. I personally find that amazing. When you look at her list of accomplishments it is even more staggering!! Whats up with that??

Attention Mike.... Attention Mike.....

I see an Opportunity for Mike aka AZHousePro to help Karen with a Sponsorship...;)

karens sponsors

How can such a top player not have anyone want to sponsor her or does she not want sponsors?

It says on her web site she's looking for sponsors. Hard to believe. Ive met her twice. Seemed like a nice person to me. She was a lot of fun and we all know she can play the game with the best of them. Johnnyt

I thought she was sponsored by Falcon cues. Butterflycues

She has been sponsored by Falcon Cues for many years, I don't know what happened with the deal but a player of her calibre should certainly have sponsors interested in her.

pick of sponsors

I figured one of the top three women's players would have sponsors knocking down her door...Maybe she got tired of wearing that dumb Falcon name tag during tournaments lol

I realize that everyone will take this post the wrong way, but at least I'm brave (or stupid) enough to say what I know a lot of others are thinking.

A lot of sponsors are shallow and want to push that whole "sex sells" edge. I think Karen Corr is a brilliant player, but that haircut and those glasses make her look kind of school marm. Personally, I think she's very attractive, but her image could use a re-vamping.

Sponsors love women like Allison Fisher and Jeanette Lee because they embrace their sexuality and attract a lot of attention to themselves and by association, their sponsors. Even if they aren't winning, they still get all the spotlight because everyone, including women, love beautiful ladies.

Look at every other sport, the top sponsored athletes aren't always the most gifted, (I'm thinking Anna Kournikova) but they are usually the most photogenic. The photo below is the Karen Corr that would have sponsore tripping over themselves. It's at the very top of her own webpage.

Of course, I realize a lot of the women on this forum will jump down my throat with both feet forward.

It has long been a disheartening reality that the sponsors haven't flocked to future BCA Hall-of-Famer Karen Corr.

Her status as a legend of women's pool is secure. And, as if she had anything left to prove, Karen Corr was the only woman to advance past the first round of the IPT King of the Hill event, and played very respectably over this past weekend, with her only losses at Turning Stone being a double-hill loss to Dennis Hatch and a 9 - 6 loss to Souquet. Not even the superstars of men's pool can beat Karen without expecting a fight.

I'm guessing that Karen Corr will make a solid showing on the IPT and will start to make the kind of income that befits her enormous talent. Whether among men or women, Karen Corr gets well-deserved attention and would be a solid representative of any sponsor.

I am going to the ProAm on Wednesday evening at the WPBA tournament in NC, perhaps I can get her side of the story. The sponsors should be beating a path to her door, it is pretty sad to think that looks or sex appeal should account for more or even be equal to talent. No offense to any of the ladies on tour..

I fully agree agree with everything you said. Karen receives well-deserved attention, however, according to the sponsors it's not the kind of attention that moves people to buy products. I mean look at Billy Jay Trotter, he loves Cuetec because Allison fisher uses their cues.:D

Sad but true. I believe Karen is a far better player than Jeanette Lee, but who gets more media coverage?. In a perfect ideal world, looks shouldn't count for squat, but in a sport that is trying to reach a mass audience and get maximum airtime, unfortunately it does matter.

I don't see what a sponsor would gain....

Pool is 99.9999999999996782532 X10^4563% a mans game.

How many men do you know that would use a product endorsed by any woman over men like Duell, Archer, Strickland, and the list goes on forever...

I would only sponsor her if my company was in the business of selling pool products to women. But that would be such a small market there would be no real money to hand out for endorsing my product.

I just don't see a symbiotic relationship forming with any real benefit for either party. Hence, nobody is knocking down her door.

Look at the WNBA (is it still around?). Its a much larger womans sport than than womans pool and there aint too many ladies selling goods out there wearing their Mercury uniform. Same reason as the WPBA...

Of course, there is a couple exceptions but my guess would be - its a PR move mostly. I doubt there is alot of financial gain for CueTec and whoever gave JL the 100k deal a while ago. That would something if I was wrong though...

Ask Karen Corr...dont assume.

If people are wondering why she doesn't have sponsors, just ask her. Instead of all this gossip and rumours, find out the real reason. Maybe she didn't agree with the direction of her last sponsors. Karen, let us all know. You have a lot of fans in this sport.

Last time I saw Karen Corr in the WPBA Nationals, she was already playing with her Bill McDaniel.

She was the last player sponsored by Falcon and may be Falcon just cannot afford to sponsor anyone anymore. I really do not know what went on. My guess is based on the fact that Falcon is not signing with another player, so it probabaly means they did not stop her contract because they have found someone better.

I would have to respectfully disagree that Karen Corr is not getting any sponsor because of a sex appeal factor.

Karen was on TV many times in the last few years. She has gained a lot of TV exposure for her cue sponsor.

Although she might not be the sexiest player on the tour, she is definitely a player with the best sportmanship. I have never seen her done anything in public to embarass her sponsor. That takes a lot of disciplines.

Karen is well respected by a lot of male professional players, they all know she can beat anyone on any given day. I cannot imagine any man dismiss her skill because she is a woman.

From a business's point of view, I happen to think Karen Corr has always been very professional in public. I think she did a very good job in representing her sponsor.

This is a true story that I want to share here:

I have a friend who used to email Karen may be four or five years ago about questions of the game(stance, stroke...etc). He was very impressed by the fact that Karen always took the time to reply whether she was in a tournament or travelling somewhere. Her responses were always detailed and yet very humble. Karen never once suggested my friend to take any lesson from her. My friend told me he has never experienced that with any other professional players he has emailed. Needless to say, he is one of the biggest Karen Corr fan I know.:)

Hey 'quedup',
Some times players have support from fans that do not wish credit.
Or maybe Karen wants to sponser herself.

Why do you have a problem with Karen not listing a sponsor?

I don't know where you got your information, but women players account for more and more sales in the billiard industry. The fact that women are getting way more tv time than the men may have something to do with the increasing number of female players. I see a much higher percentage of female players in the pool room now than I did 10 years ago.

Question. Would you buy a Cuetec cue because Earl uses one, or dismiss the idea because Allison plays with one? Or would the endorsement by any pro player cause you to choose a Cuetec? I think most players start the selection process by name recognition, but make a final decision based on quality, and how the cue feels to them personally. I would never buy a cue just because someone else likes it, no matter who they are.
