Karen Corr Without Sponsors!!

I agree Nico, one needs pizzazz to draw the crowds to the sponsor.

She has a couple really good features.

Perhaps she has freed herself from her sponsor and is going to let KT and the IPT glamourize her and find her a couple sponsors.

After all she is intelligent and plays the game extremely well. I am sure those two features will help her.

I feel that it's wholly improper to refer to her anatomy. Although all of us men have a crush on her for many reasons, it's just not proper refer to anatomy.

I don't know where you got your information, but women players account for more and more sales in the billiard industry. The fact that women are getting way more tv time than the men may have something to do with the increasing number of female players. I see a much higher percentage of female players in the pool room now than I did 10 years ago.

Question. Would you buy a Cuetec cue because Earl uses one, or dismiss the idea because Allison plays with one? Or would the endorsement by any pro player cause you to choose a Cuetec? I think most players start the selection process by name recognition, but make a final decision based on quality, and how the cue feels to them personally. I would never buy a cue just because someone else likes it, no matter who they are.
Steve

I made up my number based on obversation. The scientific notation was an indicator that I was exagerating the figure to make a point...

I don't see a higher number of woman playing. Its always been about he same no matter where I played. I was in a tournament the other day that had ~100 players. There was three, for sure, maybe a couple more. I, rarely, see serious players practicing that are woman and I lived in Phoenix for some time... The 6th largest city in the country...

I heard/read the WPBA gets their TV time because ESPN gets the lions share of that deal. I don't really watch TV too much, but I recall seeing WAY MORE men playing than woman on the TV. I had my DVR setup to record all pool and the ratio was like 10 to 1. LOTS of mens pool on if you get all the right channels. It was great, I was recording at least 20 hours a week. Some of it repeats but still, pool being on every day of the week was nice... Some days there was 10+ hours throughout the various channels :)

It's funny you ask about Earl, Alison and their sponsor -

A couple years back, my shaft warped on my latest cue. This was about the tenth shaft to warp on me. Every cue I ever owned started to bend after time. They were all nice cues. The last one was a Viking and I spent quite a bit of cash on it.

So, needless to say, I was pissed and had enough of it. I pondered on what to do. I decided to give a fiberglass cue a try since I was sure it would solve my shaft bending problems.

I decided on CueTec and looked them over pretty good. I was not a fan of anything they had except the warp resistance. I did not really care for any of their styles since they were all decals...

I said to myself, I might as well pick one that has won against the best. There was two, the Earl and the Allison. I could have purchased AF's in town and been playing that day. I knew it would play the same as the ES but I could not bring my self to play with a CueTec that had a womans name on it. I had ordered the ES along with a CueTec Break/Jump and another CueTec for my wife.

To summarize - I wanted a Cuetec, I had a choice between a mans name and a womans name. I knew they would play the same. I bought the man version.

I had players giving me trouble every day about playing with a cuetec. Even when I was beating them with it, they still disrespected me for using one. Imaging how it would have been if I was playing with a womans cuetec ;)

I have since had a custom cue made and the earl Cuetec has been retired.

Problem what Problem

Hey 'quedup',
Some times players have support from fans that do not wish credit.
Or maybe Karen wants to sponser herself.

Why do you have a problem with Karen not listing a sponsor?

"Have a nice day",
Lamar

Hi Lamar, I have NO problem with any decisions that Karen makes regarding anything!
I was amazed that she has no sponsors according to the info on the WPBA website. If you have any info on her having sponsors or her choice to not have sponsors then let everyone know.
Have a nice day,
Dan

If you got the hots for Karen, tell it like it is, but dont bring the rest of us into this.

The one big issue I see with this thread is the whole "No no, it's true! I read it on the Internet!" factor - just because the WPBA site's entry for Ms. Corr lists no sponsors doesn't mean she has no sponsors. It may simply be out of date.

That said, I wouldn't be too surprised if companies in the billiards industry (which, like someone else mentioned, is primarily a men's sport) didn't consider a female player's sex appeal when considering her for a sponsorship. Sad, but probably not unrealistic.

You've never actually spent time in a pool room, have you? :D

Jimmy M:

Nope. NEVER have I spent time in a pool room. I just buy sticks for the h*ll of it!!!

sponsors

Wouldnt it be perfect if the little sports bar with the "OWL" as a mascot sponsored her then she could where their shirts at tourneys and advertise for them lol

See, Nico, your fears of getting jumped on by the women at AZ were unfounded. From what I've observed since I've been a member here, the "ladies of AZ" are about as cool as it gets and don't embark on PC-patrol issues or NOW diatribes. Like most women of substance, they spend 95% of their time as cheerful, upbeat foils to our manly rough edges, and reserve the other 5% to absolutely filet someone who is an unredeemable jerk. Like most men, I have a small misogynistic streak, but I love me some AZ women!

Hi Steve. How ya been?

I agree wholeheartedly. I see a lot of serious female players, especially in leauges.

There are certainly enough for a cuemaker to find a niche market. I bet Meucci has sold at least several thousand of those "rose" cues.

A lot of people do though, especially newer league players. . I think Cuetec's investment in Allison had paid off quite handsomely for them. For some reason though, when McDermott sponsored Jeanette Lee they did not see the increased sales they expected. Perhaps because their prices were somewhat higher.

The last time I saw Karen on TV, in a WPBA tournament, I noticed that she was not wearing the Falcon stick on patch. I thought something was going on then.

I have to believe Karen will get another sponsor soon. She is too valuable of a property for a sponsor to ignore.

she has been much buzz in the media lately maybe if she got arrested or involved in crime incident she would be more media attentive.
