I think Earl's admission into the Hall of Fame, as well, was later than it should have been, considering all of the championship titles he holds compared to those inducted earlier than Earl.
Someone should know this, so they'll correct me but....
Earl was 45 years old when he was inducted in 2006. The age limit had been younger previously (Mike Sigel and the Miz were younger, as was Jean), but it had been raised after Sigel was inducted.
However, at some point I believe the age limit was in fact 45 for induction (when they actually set the age limit when previously there may not have been an age limit at all). So Earl's induction might have been right on track as far as the requirements at that time.
Today, the age limit is 40, under the USBMA. IMO, 40 is too young considering how many champions are still pretty solid in competition.
