Hey how are you I am hoping I did this correctly, I am hoping to win this book Willie's Game because an older gentleman at the pool hall i play at is obsesed with Mosconi. I would love to win this incredible piece of history for him as I really think he would love to add it to his small collection of blurbs and trinkets. His name is Phil Billomo and is approximately 65 years old and is probably one of the nicest guys in the world always taking time out to help the younger guys, like myself. His game has been deteriorating as of late and would love to give him this little pick me up to let him know that all of us in the pool room are thinking about him and that the pool room simply wouldnt be the same without the guy always asking you during your straight pool game. What would mosconi do? You have to understand that while this guy Phil has never been a champion or has never really done anything in the world of pool for some reason everyone takes him seriously and everyone knows he can play no matter how he plays on that day. You may beat him by 100 to 1 but everyone still respects the knowledge he has amassed over the years and I truly hope this catches the attention enough to take down this piece of history. I cant tell you enough how much it would mean to him. I had recently burned him some volumes of antique billiards from my own small collection and i thought he was going to be close to tears when i handed it to him.

I hope this catches your eye.
 
Byrnes Books

I would be ecstatic with any of the byrnes books. I just got done reading 99 critical shots in pool and it opened my eyes to what pool books can do for your game. I know that sounds dumb, but that was my first experience reading a pool book and I have been playing for 11 years (im 27.) I would think that any of those books can help to elevate my game, or at the very least help to see other perspectives on this great game. Thanks for your consideration! Also super cool that you would give the books away, rep for you sir.

Great cues and cases for sale. I would love to get the 3. Byrne's Advanced Technique in Pool and Billiards. But would take any of the books. I don't have any stories I can tell you about Mosconi, because I have never seen him play( I am to young I guess). Wish I knew him.

Well first and foremost good luck with the sale of all your items.
Secondly I would love to take willies game off your hands. I am currently reading The hustler and the champ and i have been fascinated with Willie Mosconi and his life along with what he has done for the great game we all enjoy. I also want to read how he describes his life and his beginning in pool in his own words, not through another author who might or might not have even known Willie personally.

For what it's worth, I'd like to second the nomination made by ForumGhost for his friend Phil Billomo. I don't know either of them, but I'd love to see a Mosconi enthusiast win something Willie signed.

I first read Mosconi's Winning Pocket Billiards when I was a college student. At the time Amazon.com didn't exist, and even if it did I probably wouldn't have been able to afford to buy the book anyway. Mosconi's and Mizerak's books were two that I read for "free" (if you exclude the cost of tuition, room & board). This was part of an early education that established a lifetime love for the game.
 
Without going into many personal details.....in 1994 after the death of my partner, our pool room wound up in a long court battle and was closed throughout that period. By the time things had been settled and I was able to retrieve my things from the pool room, it had been gone through by his family members. They aren't "pool people" so I highly doubt that they even knew what they took, but it included some old Brunswick cues, brand new sets of clay balls, a cue autographed by Mosconi (wasn't his) and.....several books from that era, one of which was signed by him. It broke my heart but there was nothing that I could do. We had been all over the country collecting some great items and had actually found a few more in the attic of our 100+ year old pool room, but there were all gone. I would dearly love to begin a new collection!

(and if you can't find someone for the Advanced Techniques book.....I could surely use it for helping my 11 year old! You know, kids never believe their parents....)

I've gone through it like 4 times at the poolhall and I still have it. I won it at Ebay and I have been wanting to try and get one of Byrne's books suggested by other AZer's, soon as I get extra money. I don't have any sob stories to tell you about why I should win one, I just enjoyed the Ray Martin book and liked learning new shots, banks and strategies. Hey I really appreciate the support man. This guy is literally everyone's friend and if i win i will post some pics of us together with the book and envelope. I heard about the envelope after writing my story and now that I have seen it I am doubling my efforts to get this. I mean something Willie signed even at 26 years old I am in awe.

First of all, Green rep to you sir. I find it great that in such a selfish and mean world there are still some great people who are in it for the joy and not how much money they can make.

I don't know a lot about Willie Mosconi, and being a unemployed college student makes it hard to buy books other than what I need for school. I'd be interested in book #6, Willie's Game. I'm sure you will see fit to give the books away to the right, lucky new owners.

If I happen to win this book I will read it and pass it on to my brother, whom has a slight interest in pool, to hopefully hook him. He does show promise as a player and maybe soon he can surpass my B-weak A level of play Thanks again and good luck with your sales!! Rob.
