Keith and Shane

I am not familiar with what "stamping your feet" means. And I am certainly not promoting another billiard forum. I don't want it to deteriorate into what many of the threads on this board have. And in no way did I slag or belittle the intelligence of all AZ posters. I have enjoyed many positive, intelligent conversations on this board.

And I participate in many "off color" threads here as well. They are fun. But the language in the last post should not be tolerated. And a decent board, members should have enough respect for other menbers not to even post such garbage. Do you agree that a board with children of all ages should allow such language? Do you approve of the language in Celtic's post?

Just curious.

Mike

I also enjoy "off color threads" from time to time but this one is a little out of hand.

Mike, first of all children should NOT BE and are NOT allowed on the forum. And if someone that young found their way onto a billiard forum anyway, I guarantee that they've also found their way to every sex site on the internet and HAVE heard worse on the playgrounds and classroom. Hell they hear worse than that in rap music. Bringing up children is a bullshit argument.

And you can try to asses my intelligence based on that one post all you like, there is a 99% chance I am more educated then you based on nothing more then statistics. I have also had my IQ and apptitude tested enough times to know where I stand and am very happy with the level I am at. If you yourself were a little brighter then maybe you would realize that you cannot judge a person based on a single post they might make, as is evident from the crap that spewed forth from this board against SVB that caused many people including JAM and one of his own family members to come to his defense followed by the man himself. If you feel that this board should attack any little thing that someone might say and belittle and cut down every new poster that does not write in perfect english then by all means dont let the door hit ya on the way out.

Should be "assess" and "than you"

I feel bad for the other 99%.

When I first read Shanes post I felt it was more of an inside joke between him and Kieth at the very most some old fashion ribbing, I wish there was as much coverage on the tourney itself.

Just so you know I will respond to this later after I have stopped laughing. But kids shouldn't be in any open forum on any subject. I don't think there is a lot of demand for 9 year old pool hustlers logging in LOL.

Thanks for the updates

Just wanted to let y'all know that late last evening after Keith defeated the Korean champion, Young-Hwa Jeong, he was as happy as a clam, wanting to hang out at the Chesapeake Conference Center with his family of pool friends. We were hanging out with Buddy Hall, Jerry Bento, and Billy Incardone for a spell, and if only I had a tape recorder. The conversations and reminiscing were priceless. :D

Earl Strickland looks to me as if he is having a great tournament. On the offs, he is practicing, tweaking his break and getting used to the equipment. Tonight at 9:00 p.m., Earl faces Ralf Souquet on the TV table. This will be a feature match. At each one of Earl's matches, the crowd draws near, and Earl is a shining pearl at the U.S. Open this year. During Keith's match, Keith went out front to smoke a cigarette, after the Young-Hwa Jeong requested to take a break. Earl had already shot down his man and was mingling with the fans. It's like old home week here, old friends gathering and enjoying a few laughs, and Earl seems to be having a great time.

Shane from South Dakota was hanging out inside the conference center, sweating a few matches late in the evening. When Keith saw him in the stands, he immediately went up to him and sat down. Keith likes Shane, and Shane likes Keith. They spent about a half hour or more chatting it up. There's no doubt about it that Shane is a topnotch player with a powerful punch. Not only is it his first experience at the U.S. Open, but it was also his first experience of having to play on that TV table with all eyeballs on him. It is a little intimidating, and he stated that he was slightly nervous. There ain't no hard feelings between the two of them. If anything, Keith admires the youngster, and I believe the feeling is mutual.

We're killing a little time relaxing today in our room, gearing up for the 11:00 p.m. round with Sylver from Texas. Many more AzB-ers and CCB'ers have arrived today. This is truly the place to be if you love pool. Francisco Bustamante told me last night that he thinks this tournament -- the format, the equipment and tight pockets, the people, and all of the extracurricular activities -- is a better pool experience for him personally than the WPC and other high-profile events. Everybody is relaxed and having a ball.

JAM

JAM,

Thanks for those updates. I'm always zeroing in on your commentary as they are always good natured and well-spoken. I'm rooting Keith on. One of the highlights for me and my Dad was our gambling with Keith at Yankee Doodles in Long Beach. I think he gave me the 7 and the last 2 at that time, and he won handily. My dad claimed that Keith was trying to convince the tournament director to let him into the weekly tournament by giving everyone all the balls but giving him the break. Sounds like Keith :p If you remember, tell Keith Chris (the hearing impaired one) from Hard Times say hey and good luck.

Wow spelling and grammer nazi. I am not surprised. I suppose you think that knowledge and intelligence are the same thing? Many very dumb people spell very well, you are a case in point.

You are right on one thing, this thread deteriorated fast. Here is where it started.

Respect, class, get you some, Shane. A little heart wouldn't hurt either.

A direct personal attack on Shane's character.

followed by:

Hey Hemi,

That "for his age" thing didn't show alot of class. I hope he doesn't draw Efren on the one loss side. He's older than Keith. Shane will probably think he has the nuts.

High five from the peanut gallery that is Mike Templeton to the attacking Hemi.

Hemi feeling good about his momentum and support from his Planter's crew follows up with:

Such a wordsmith too. Better hope your, night job, never fails you.

Always a good way to go on the internet forums, first go after a person's character then attack their intelligence or education.

THAT is where the whole thread went downhill. If you look before that you can see that the thread was in good spirits. Hemi brought it down and you Mike were right there giving him a shoulder rub like a boxers trainer. A new poster makes a statement on AZB and he is immediately attacked by Hemi, who is supported by you Mike. Want to talk about treating people with respect and showing class, you might want to read about the pot and the kettle.

It was great to see the match over the internet with Keith, I haven't seen him in such a long time...He's right about his break, in that match he broke atleast 3 times without making a ball.

Maybe he should break from the side rail instead of the middle like he's doing?

Now I'm watching last years match and Keith was breaking from the side rail against McCreesh.

See ya...Jerry

Mike, if you're going to correct someone else's grammar, you really should know what you're talking about first.

There was no dangling participle in that sentence.

It's a sentence ending in a preposition. The ending of a sentence with a preposition is becoming more and more common and widely accepted in the past 10 - 20 years. So no, it's not the best grammar in a purist sense. But it's not necessarily -- technically -- incorrect grammar.

So I guess this is me correcting your correction.

Personally, I think it's funny to see railbirds trash talking on behalf of two players who, themselves, obviously hold absolutely no anomisity toward one another.

I've met Shane, and he's a classy kid with tons of heart. My team beat his in a regional amateur tournament last year, and I'll tell you for certain that he's the real deal. The kid's gonna be a great pro with a great career. I hope he goes far.

In the next five years, guys like Shane (S.D.), Jamie Baraks (Iowa / Illinois) and Lee Heuwagen (S.D. / Minnesota) are going to lead the way for whole new crop crop of young professional stars from the Midwest. And believe me, there are many more (like Jesse Bowman) right behind them.

Keep your eyes open for names like Beau Runningen (he's 20 or 21, I think), Jay Zender and a 17-year-old kid named Jared Bailey -- three up-and-coming young players from Minnesota. You might see their names in this field within the next two or three years.

Jerry,
The tournament is 'break from the box'. They have to break from between the two inside diamonds on the end rail, in the kitchen.

Landon Shuffett is 11, and I know for a fact that he and his family read this forum every day.

Landon Shuffett is a very good young player and he got that way from his father, not this forum. This forum didn't teach him one damn thing and never will. If he's coming on here, he shouldn't. The age limit IS 13. If his father lets him come on, that's his decision and HE'S the one that has to make the call on what his kid can and can't see. This is a forum for adult pool players, not kiddies. This isn't a church...this is in essence a pool room.

Landon Shuffett never visits this forum. I would not let him nor would he choose to if given the chance. Landon is aware that forums exists and has never once asked to visit a forum.

Shane and Keith had quite a few chat sesssions during the Open, and they became good friends, sharing trade secrets. Keith said he would sure like to take the South Dakota Kid on the road. He was very impressed with Shane's tournament play AND his action game.

BTW, night before last, Shane was at Q-Masters battling it out with Marcos Marquez, playing EVEN, for an undisclosed sum, with Shane coming out on top.

Picture of Shane from South Dakota and Keith McCready.
