Keith Kustom Cues

Has anyone heard of Keith Kustom Cues? I have one I bought for $1500 back around 1990. It has 6 points and some pretty intricate gold ringwork in 4 places and some inlays below the black linen wrap. Lots of bird's eye maple and a darker wood filling in the points and inlay (cocobolo?). It has 2 shafts. I have read about Keith in the Blue Book, but was wondering if anyone else actually has one. It is a beautiful, elegant cue.
 
Isn't it Keith Kustom Kue? I've wondered if there is meaning behind the initials? :confused:

I've got an odd 1 of a kind cue from them, I know it was one guy Keith who was bought out by another guy named Keith Hansen I think and they didn't make too many cues. I remeber seeing another very fancy one with lots of gold (dots I think) back at VF a few years ago. I wonder how many they made, when they went out of business and other info if anyone lives in that area.

the 1 with the gold 8ball racks and 9 ball racks. that cue was stolen a few years ago i bought it from keith. he made it for me. it was my design. keith is a friend of mine. he built some first class stuff. let me know if you see it again.

How bout a little more then that??? Like what's he doing now? Why did he stop (I'd guess he wanted to pay his bills)? How many cues did he make? When did he stop??

He was featured in the cuemakers callendar in 1995 I believe, along with mottey, schick, kikel, martinez, black, etc....

He made top quality cues and essentially made them from scratch. There is currently a cue listed on ebay ( Keith Kustom Kue) that details some of the history. He labeled the year made and the number on the joint pin.

I also, would love to know if he is still around (Keith Hanssen ). Someone thought that he may have died....but I would still like to know.

My friend and I have a total of four of them between us. and we are always looking for more. My friends jump/break plays better than about anything I've ever held. Post a few pics of yours! I'd like to see it.

By the way, the rings are not gold....more than likely he used brass. At least that is what he used on every cue of his that I ever saw.

he is still around doesnt make cues. made 100 or fewer i would guess. they hit great. he is still in the game. plays good.
keep your eyes open for the 8 and 9 ball racks in the butt area they are stolen.
 
i remember him from long ago. didn't he do gold rings? as an investment, i doubt if there's much there, cuz you just don't hear about him
 
I had one back in the early 90s ,6 point bocote with horn joint and butt. I've seen a few surface and would buy one if the time and price were right.

My understanding from a small "dealer" in the Seattle area - who sold Keith cues several years ago - cuebuilder was in the Dakotas - no longer builds cues - retired or has died. Was very meticulous in his work - when ordering a cue from him ring work width was even measured by the fraction of an inch - he never dealt with computers, emails, and digital photos. Hope this helps.

I'm sitting in a hotel in Anaheim right now, but maybe next week I can snap some pictures of the cue. I do believe it is brass rings, it is numbered on the pin, and it is a gorgeous cue. Most people that would look at it far away admired it, but when you got it up close and saw all the work that went into it, then it really got compliments.
