I have returned now & have a computer pieced together until my new one arrives shortly. I've already shipped out many of the repairs I had & a few cues have shipped as well. Give me some time & I'll get my pm box cleared a bit later today.
OK....now for the news. I've decided that Kevin Varney Custom Cues will no longer accept custom orders or do repairs on other than Varney cues. This is due to the fact that I'm simply too busy. Being a 1 man shop and working on well over 200 cue orders is my limit. When new cues are ordered I try to get them together so I can begin the slow process of building them correctly & slowly turning them to size. Doing this just takes too much time away from working on cues that are already started. So...from now on I will not accept new orders & will work only on the cues already due. This seems to me to be the only possible way I can catch up to my ever increasing backlog. For all those who have cues ordered...relax...I haven't gone anywhere. All cues will be delivered. There are several almost complete that will ship this week & I'll post pics in the Gallery for all to enjoy. Thank you everyone for your patience. I've recently had several business offers for partners, more equipment, and several employees. I've declined these offers as I'd rather stay a 1 man shop and keep the quality control to my standards. I do have several cues in the works that no one has seen & are not spoken for....so I will very occasionally have a few listed for sale. I realize everyone wants their cue yesterday and I apologize for the delay. I am working as hard as God & my family will allow. Thank you again to all who support me.
My little observations from that dark corner in the room....
1. This is not the first time you need to write such a post about "something happened, I was busy, one man shop, cannot finish".
2. You are not organized. You often overestimate your speed. You lack the ability to estimate delivery deadlines, which is supposed to be your expertise.
3. If I disappear from my work for 1 week and come back to my boss with the above explanation, do you think I can keep my job?
4. If I'm still doing my task 3 months after my deadline, and I tell my boss I do it slowly because I want to get it perfect, what do you think will happen?

Please excuse my "newbie" ignorance, but it is difficult for me to believe the mods on this site would purposely delete Varney threads. Can you direct me to proof of this, or is all evidence erased by the moderators. Are you saying that the moderators are protecting Varney and, thereby, allowing the forum members to remain vulnerable to questionable business tactics, if that is a correct term?

The funny thing about this thread to me was that Kevin started it because of a complaint about an order taking forever and the person had prepaid for their cue. So, Kevin starts this thread and says "NO MORE ORDERS" so that he can catch up and make things right again. But, after everyone kinda got off his back, he started posting alot so he couldnt have been working too hard on cues. Now that another complaint has surfaced, he has gone M.I.A. again....just sounds a little fishy to me. I hope he isnt funding a bad habit....I hate to see that happen to anyone. JMO.

Seriously, if he is so backlogged with orders, one of the first things he should do is STOP taking payments before he is ready to build anything. I understand why cuemakers require payment, but it also seems like it to me that requiring payment up front when you have a large amount of pending orders is a recipe for customer service problems.

Not to bag on anyone.. but why in the hell would you order a cue form someone who has made the first post in this thread...........?
I dont really like or dislike the guy (never stole from me) he actually gave a little help to me once...
But anybody that has gotten done it by him in the last ...oh say ... 4months...well they had it coming!

His M.O. when he's gotten complaints and disappeared has been to come back on here and triumphantly proclaim he's ready to work his hands to the bone while wagging his finger at his ungrateful customers. A few rabid supporters then say "see! told you so!" as if more empty words and promises mean anything, and that's that.
When the shit hits the fan a little heavier, he usually comes back with a pity story designed to make people feel guilty. Relative dying, can't take food of family's table, etc, etc.
Now that it appears he has basically 0 support from anyone but himself ("and"--ahem--roadkill), I can't wait to see what story he concocts now.
