Ki-Tech soft vs UltraSkin medium

you are not miscueing because of a tip......... you have a lousy stroke........... it's all you

Kim

Well, those Ki-Tech tips musta fixed my lousy stroke, 'cause I cut off my UltraSkin Pro today and put on a KT soft, and guess what? No more miscues.

Last night I went out to shoot with the cue that has the M on it. Before I got started I decided to shape and burnish it (I usually only use a tapper rather than shaping) because I haven't shaped it since I recieved it. After I shaped it, I couldn't stop miscuing. Same tip, just less flat. What's with that? Ben

Yes this was basically me....the mushrooming was not terrible and could be fixed but the glaze and constant miscue after just became too much

I shaped it and burnished it again and didn't have any problems with it. I loved the original mooris but they are too hard to find anymore. I'll be sticking with the Ultraskins

Sounds to me like this Tom Hay with the UltraSkins must be a con artist. I think a public hanging is called for.

Very odd to hear of the mis cueing issues associated with the Ultraskins. I have trialed both Ultra Skins and K-Tech tips over 6 month periods with no problems. I like both tips very much and have installed a good many for customers as well. I've only had one customer that didn't care for the US tip. We'll be staying tuned...

I only sell UltraSkin tips. Everyone loves them. The soft and the Pro will sometimes mushroom and I just redress them and they hold shape after that. As for miscueing.... no one here has that problem.

The better players here use the UltraSkin hard tips and consistently get full table draw with out miscueing.

It's all in the stroke...........

First off... have not tried the Ki-Tech so have no opinion on them. Have been installing the US medium on most of the 2nd gen shafts lately. Some find the soft or super soft more to their liking. Installed the tip, a medium, on my own shaft, played for several months without reshaping or de-glazing. There was a small amount of mushrooming but the tip had held its shape pretty well. After dressing the tip up the feel was somewhat different and I did miscue a few times but I did not touch the tip again although I was tempted to change it. The "problem" went away in a short time and the original feel returned. Have used the same tip now for another few months, just put in 3 hours last night, no miscues and the cueball goes where I think it should go. I think many players dress the tip too often and personally only dress the tip when the cueball does not react how I think it should be.

A curious question -- For those that are getting glazing, are you using a tip pick?

People that has a lousy stroke always blame it on the tip...especially when they loose a lot.. I shoot with a ultraskin medium on my lambros cue..and no miscues but I don't shoot with a lousy stroke.... Practice on your stroke and don't blame the ultraskin....

I have been playing with Ultra Skin soft on my 1968 Joss cue and IMO they play very good and i have never miscued once. I would recommend them highly.

I have tried the Ki tech ---they were great when I first put it on and after awhile I didnt like the hit------So I put a Us pro back on which I had on in the first place....I really not had any miscue issues at all with either tip so I dont know what they are talking about.... I have installed alot of US tips on my customers cues no issues..truthfully dont expect any..

Make sure you sit about 1000 of the medium pros aside for me before they schedule this hanging. Best tip I've played with... Of course I use chalk once in awhile. ;)

This is one stupid statement . I haven't had mis- cue problems in almost a year. Hmmm did I fix my stroke? Oh wait!!!! I changed my tip. I guess it's a stroke fixer eh?

I've been using ultraskin mediums and hard since last December. I think that they are at least as good as the other premium layered tips out there. Comprable to kamui IMO. I feel like glazing happens on most layered tips. Ultra skins have no more glazing than kamuis did in my experience. They are a good layered tip for the money.

Got a kitech sampler to try next. We will see.

It seems like I miscue when I forget to chalk. What's up with that ? Yet to try Ki-Tech. Currently using Ultraskin med. Starting to glaze a bit, but I'm not trying any crazy english.

Ki-Tech for me please..

I've spent the last year playing with Predator Medium, Kamuii Clear Medium and Kamuii Black Medium tips. They all play pretty decent in my opinion.. except for the price. I usually go through a tip in 2 months.. I chalk religiously and scuff the tip before every session or every 6 hours of play. Recently, I ordered the sampler pack of Ki-Tech tips and had the Hard installed. It plays unbelievable well.. hits nice and crisp the way I prefer and puts very little unintentional spin on the ball. For people who like to stun the ball and play a deliberate (stay on the right side of the ball) style of pool.. this is the best tip you can purchase for the money!! It'll probably outlast everything else I have tried in the past as well. Awesome product.

This is one GENIUS response.... I shoot the ball hard all the time, I put too much low english, I put too much right and left english..... I miscue 10 out of ten..... I have to change my ultraskin medium tip to a different tip..... because its not my stroke......its definitely the tip.......:confused::confused:

I've been using ultra skins for a year now. Great tips, no problems with miscues.

If a new tip would stop me from miscueing, I would really consider it (saves me lots of money on kamui chalks)

its probably a softer tip that holds your squirrelly stroke on the cue ball better.

Ultra skin tips

I have sold a lot of Ultra Skin tips the last year or so, I have less complaints since I started installing them than I had with other tips, one thing I have learned you cannot please everyone. I have ultra skin tips on all my cues that I play with. Great product Tom Hay provides.
