Good morning,

I was wondering what would be the best way to improve my 2 and 3 rail kicks?
Is it better to learn all of the systems, or does it just come down to a lot of practice?

Kick shots will vary from table to table based on environment, age, wear etc.
I found that it's easier to learn 2 rail kick shots by establishing a baseline using center ball exclusively and correlating the angles relative to the diamonds.

Once you define the traditional angle for any two rail shot using center ball, you can take it to any table and make adjustments for the table conditions.

After you figure out the center ball angles, you can then test the variations in the angle when English is applied.

Kicking Academy by Dead Aim
This is a free .pdf of some information that was posted to the forums about 10 years ago by a member named "Dead Aim". The information and diagrams was put together and I have had it posted on my website for years. It is clear - concise - accurate - useful information - and possibly the best instructional material ever posted on Azbilliards. Dead Aim hasn't been heard from since.

The following videos are from Jimmy Reid. These are the original videos for this information - not the imitations. Jimmy is a great player and an awesome teacher - check out his website - www.freepoollessons.com - Jimmy is the real deal.

These videos from Dr. Dave are filled with great information - I only have time to post a few of them - check out his entire site or buy his dvd's - this "must know" information for every player.

Thanks for these, I have been through a great deal of material and haven't come across that PDF before. There are so many systems out there I just don't know which ones are best... I guess i have to try them out and see.

Pick up a copy of our instructional video, Play Better Pool, Vol. 2, Taking Your Game To The Next Level. There are excellent explanations of 2 & 3 rail kicking and banking systems.

I studied many systems when learning 3 cushion and years ago wrote articles on the 1, 2, and 3 rail systems that are most relevant to pool. You can check out the articles on my website at mypoolblog.com. Previous resources mentioned by Blackjack are also excellent.
